I was on from 9:00 till 9:25 and never saw anyone. But fun to try out the new planes.

Thought i would share...So i downloaded a P51H from fs-freeware.net. Its a real sweet plane!!!! Fast too! So i decided to try and fly it. Got it off the ground nice and easy, set altitude hold, at 18,000 feet, and went patrolling for an airport (starting from Tampa Intl). So i found an airport (not sure of the name) and brought it down to 2000 feet, then 1000 feet, then near the airport to 400 feet. Set up flaps and landing gear at 1000 feet. This is when it gets hectic. I wasn't lined up with the runway...no problem, i can make a go around. So i did, and im now lined up. Turn off autopilot, and take control. I bring it down, im close to the runway, and right at touchdown....the plane bounces!!!! it keeps bouncing and bouncing and bouncing. My engine is at idle speed while i was doing this. I got it down safely though.
 Its a lot less nerve wracking than RC flying as well hehehe. If that had been my RC plane.....I'd be having a mental breakdown!!!  This was all done with a keyboard and mouse, so you can get an idea as to how hard it was....now all i need is that thrustmaster joystick!!!!

I being a Private Pilot, and RC Pilot and a FSX pilot.....don't know how anybody can fly anything with a mouse and keyboard. Get a stick and the world will be your oyster.

Yep thats exactly what im going to do, but i need to build up the courage to ask my dad if he can help me order it. I mean, i have more than enough money for one, but i just ordered some parts for my Micro T-28 to be rebuilt two days ago and the total was around $77. Now, I'm using my own hard earned cash, but being a minor, i'm not allowed to order online alone.

Something I do to minimize bounce is just as i'm touching down I remove a notch of flaps. If i'm already near stall speed for the original flap setting this brings me to below the stall speed for the next one up. Seems to smooth things out for my planes. I figure it's the loss of lift that plants me more solidly. Mike. |

I usually try for the slowest touchdown speed I can, (land into the wind not downwind)! For one, I can clear the runway for hotrods landing behind me, (remind you of anyone WJ & AX?  ) and two........., tires are expensive! (Thats why I usually end up in the grass, it's softer!) Thats my story and i'm sticking to it! Mike. |

Just would like to know, what is acceleration? WhiskeyJake mentioned needing that two pages ago to join?

i have just Microsoft Flight Simulator X...it costed $20 from Best Buy. This is what the cover looks like. Im going to guess its the original version?

You will need either the Gold edition or the Accelleration add on to be able to connect with us ; as you have a different version. You can still get on Gamespy and try and get on different sessions until you upgrade. |
