I was trying to re establish a new Game Spy account, but it keeps showing a message that my password has to be less than 16 alphanumric characters, which it is, i used only 5 alphanumeric characters, but it keeps displaying the 16 character message and won't let me sign up, so the heck with Game Spy, they can shove it!

Well fellas, I went back, tried a new user name, a totally different password, and still get the 16 alpha numeric message about your password can't be over 16 characters long, mine is five, but still the same message. What a PIA!!!
Guess I won't be joining you guys until Game Spy fixes its problems
Even bought a really nice brand new headset that is now useless!

GameSpy can be a real pain at times. Just start again with a new name and password, until it accepts one.

I tried it again, same problem, I'm tired of hassling with it. Going downstairs and work on one of my RC projects instead

Ed,
sorry, but I was just on there.....
I suspect somehow your computer has saved a password (or what it thinks is one), and is sticking that in for you?
Have you tried restarting your computer & then attempting login?
Like to see you FSX'ing soon!
Mike.

ED,

You may need to tunr DOWN your Firewall security on your computer and/or the Administrator security setting. It may be blocking it because GameSpy is an outside connection and your security is preventing that.

Thanks for the suggestion Roger.
I'll give it a try
As far as my PC remembering an old password, I don't belive so because I wiped my hard drive clean and re-installed Windows 7 Pro just a few weeks ago.

A buddy of mine who is an IT took a look at it. He said the problem is Game Spy's software is just not very compliant with Windows 7 Pro and it is evident to him that Gs has been hacked because we tried something and my antivirus immediately notified us that GS has several viruses in its system and using it could be dangerous!

The 16 word message carries a nasty virus. So use GS at your own risk
We emailed them , but have not received a reply, doubt we will

Just in,
this same buddy just repaired another PC of a friend of ours
He logged onto GS for a different game and his machine went nuts on him
His started to shut down then restart, constantly, over and over.
Only way to fix the problem is to wipe the drive clean and reinstall Windows 7 Pro like I am running. He told me not to use GS at all, if I did he wouldn't fix my machine again
Just use "free flight" or any other mission on FSX , but do go online with it.
My firewall and antivirus kept my machine from being wiped out by GS.

My buddy highly recommends MS Security Essentials because it doesn't load down the machine and slow it down like Norton or McAfee which he says to never use
Norton is like tying a lead boat anchor to your OS, and McAfee not much better.

He's been working on and setting up and networking PCs for years and when he finds Norton or McAfee on a machine, he gets rid of them.
MS security essentials is far better and does a great job, is easily updated and is free!
