Was the scaling off or did you have shrink to fit checked? I would be willing to bet that one of the HK 10 gram BL motors (1811-2000) would work for a motor. You might have to go with so small servos like the EM 3.7gram ones, but it would most likely work. I even had thoughts about trying that setup for a real small 3D machine.

5 gram motor worked great on a 15"ws version I did awhile back. the 10gram would prob make that a very nice 22" 3d flier.
or maybe you could go to the classifieds section and sell it to someone in the micro section for a good deal. I may be interested i mean its already cut and I dont have to go through the hard part. Hit me up if you want to get a little money for it so you can buy some more foam.

Well I finally got round to putting it together. Unfortunately painting isnt my best skill as you will see on the finished paint job. I wish I'd left it yellow and white as it didnt look too bad, then added a line which ran then the blue was a real nightmare. Maybe I'll invest in a spray gun for my next one, Im hopefully going to get it out to maiden it in the morning.

Really enjoyed this as my first scratch build and cant wait to build another

Oh yeah, found the motor in the UK 7 @ robotbirds with mount and a prop saver, bargain

Thanks for the offer but I was not clear and I have only cut out the paper! It takes just as much time as cutting the real thing!
I may have to invest in the 1811 2000kv motor from HK
Cheers

Well I just managed to knock myself a Lil Ripper up in a matter of hours, it looks like a nice, strong build. Now all I need is some servos and some paint

Rcjim11 its just Tamiya acrylic paint, 1.20 a pot.

The motor is the BW was going to buy the motor in my link earlier in the thread but stumbled across the BW by accident on Robotbirds website, only bummer is the circlip on the back of the spindle has broke, anyone got an idea where I can get one of these from rather than sending the motor back for a replacement?

Well I ended up pinching a c clip off of my old Hyper 10 car for the motor and is way stronger than the original.

Just been out for a quick maiden and all I can say is WOW. I absolutely love the way this plane flys, gave me a massive grin whilest flying it. Pretty lively with no D/R set, tho didnt take too long to get used to it towards the end of the pack. One thing I know for sure, every time I go the heli field this little beauty is coming along aswell.

Thank you 3Dmon for sharing the plans for this Im really very impressed!

Just picked up a HS-55 servo for the ailrons on this bird, still have to rewind a 16gram motor for it first though. It's a 66% build, hoping for about 110g max weight. Looks like a great plane though.
