Build Log
Build complete + First time on the water

Thanks to Aerominded, Woodybob and all the folks at RcGroups who've given me advice over the last year with my Chris Craft Utility
This was a first time build and I have say I Knew very little about boats before I started and even less on how to build a working scale model of one )

I put the build steps in this video and some footage of daytime and night time cruising.

Cheers Russell

BUILDING A SCALE MODEL BOAT ( 1947 Chris Craft Utility R/C-boat) (4 min 58 sec)

Thanks guys the chase boat was an Equipage Marbella driven by my boating buddy Brian. It had a waterproof camera wedged in between the seat and steering wheel.

This video below is when we first tried it out with the camera looking backwards (we found it hard to follow one another, but you get the idea... )

Wow, that was your first build? Great job. Are you in the movie business? Very professional looking video. I cant wait to see what your boats look like when your an old pro.

Ha ha, no not in the movie business.
I'd seen so many movies on youtube of boats that were a small spec 100yds out on the water. I was always disappointed I couldn't see more of the boat?
So I swore that if I ever built a boat, I was going to film it, and by God
...I was going to get up real close ! SO I jumped between zooming in the boat from a movie camera on the bank and a small waterproof camera in a 2nd RC boat and chopped up the footage of the two.
I can't take all the credit for the final build result, I had good instructions from the Dumas kit, expert tuition via RCgroups and I worked at a snails pace over a year making and rectifying mistakes. How could I not go wrong ))

You've set the bar pretty high!

G'day Russell
Very nicely done! I think your build and video might just be the "benchmark" many of us can aspire to.
Thanks for sharing.
