Glenn, you gonna be around to see it?

I just have to say, what an easy build. Everything has fit together just perfect. Very good looking plane in person, and I can't wait to fly it.
I will post pictures of it next to the 78'' 300. I just love the colors and the scheme.
I will also post spec's on the electronics used once I get some pictures.

I sure will.
I'm almost done. Motor will be mounted tonight and the rest of the front end. Set the deflections and it is done! I will get an auw also. I'll try and put the watt meter to it also. Pictures to follow as well.

I have a question about AXI motors. I was looking at the specs and the 5325-18 looks better than the 5320-18. The 5320 shows 6 cell and the 5325 shows 8 cell. Everyone seems to like the 5320-18, but would the 5325-18 be even better? Hobby-Lobby has a 15%off sale for a couple of days. My Scorpion 4035-330 is working fine, but I was thinking about a backup.
Thanks,
George Royal

I have a problem with the wires, leading to the rudder. I crossed them inside the fuselage, which leads me to the problem, that every time I bring the rudder servo to it's final position, the wire, that is not pulling, gets loose. Anybody else have this problem? Did you cross the wires?

On the first page of this thread, hercdriver7777 shows the pull-pull rudder wires crossed and the offset 3" servo arm(SWB). I used hercdriver7777's info more than the manual, he did a great job.
Thanks, Chris

It's a 3" Airwild: http://www.braeckman.de/servoarmegross.htm
It goes straight until its end and has no crank like the swg's. But if you think about geometry, this can't make the difference.
It is just, when you go to the end position of the rudder, the wire, that doesn't pull at the moment gets loose. At this moment, the rudder would just be fixed between the air presure and the pulling wire. Normaly, that must be like this at any extra, because I didn't do something special, but at it is my first linkage with wires, it seems to me a little strange. What does your wires do in the end position? Are they both absolutely tight?

PS. Wires are tight till about 25 of rudder-movement. Than they get loose

330 kv is too low for 6S on this motor. I tried that combo on a 68" Velox
and performance was underwhelming. The power really came alive after
switching to the 380 kv motor. The 330 kv works great with 8S.

The wire that is not pulling will get loose, totally normal. I don't remember if wires that are not crossed get loose? I have one plane like that and don't remember. But, it is normal.

What a beautiful plane. I will get an AUW before I fly it and put the watt meter to it. Updates to come.

Here's the spec's:

Castle Ice 100 speed control
Castle ccbec (small blue one)
Hitec HS985mg servos - ailerons and rudder
Hitec HS5245 digital servos on elevators
SWB servo arms
Great planes 3'' aluminum backplate spinner
APC 20X8 prop / will also try a Xoar 20x10 wood prop
Batteries - FlightMax, Hyperion, Thunder Power will be used

What I found ut is, that I din'd absolutely center the rudder hinge (about 0,08"). Looking at the geometry of the whole thing, theoretically there is no need to have loose wires, because the hinges at the rudder and the servo are exactly the same length and centered beneath the turning point.
Should I move the wholes in the hinge to make this thing better or does anybody have another idea?

Zisko, I wouldn't worry about this too much. It's not that critical at all IMO.

Michael and Glenn,

I'm not second guessing anybody, but according to my "calculations" the next line for 6S (22 Volts) in the 4035-330KV prop sheet would read:
APC 20x10, 90 Amps, 1980 Watts, 5100 RPM, thrust 7800 grams, efficiency 4 g/W which sounds like a good fit.
