Would putting a OS GT33 in this thing be overkill?

We are putting that motor in 71" Slicks and the like so I don't *think* it would be too heavy. Also, I like that the stabs come off on the Extreme Flight so it would be easy to transport.

Stupid question but does it make much difference if I use the inner hole on the fibreglass arm combined with a more inner hole on the servo arm...

Rather than using a more outer hole on both?

I have mine on the inner hole on the horn and outside hole on the the servo arm. I had them both set on the outside but the servo was binding to much for my taste. I try to minimize the use of EPA and/or sub trim during a build as I believe IMO that it is better to get it close to center without the radio adjustments first. Then fine tune with the radio if necessary. Another principal to remember is when your at full throw the control rod itself should be at 90 degrees in relation to the surface and not angled in any way as this can cause unnecessary stress on the servo.

Running cheap servos I find the opposite.

I'm using maximum EPA on my servos with the nearest hole to the centre possible to gain the correct deflections.


To me it seems to increase torque, accuracy and centering ability.

Correction, I still use EPA however I don't want them to bind at full throw either.

How do you avoid the ball joint binding on the control arm if you use the inside hole?

I tried it on my elevator on the 70" and found it bound pretty quickly at full deflection.

Decrease your EPA to the point it stops binding. How much of a gap do you have between elevator and stab? Another thing to remember is you don't need 80 degrees of throw on this plane to 3D. I have 45 degrees of throw on mine.

I got about 1mm gap and no trouble getting 55deg throw on the outer holes with 120%EPA.

I sorta was looking for 65degree of throw but once I got the cg back to about the right area it has heaps of pitch authority with 55deg I found.

Just used to my 60" birds that have 60+ degree of elevator throw but this doesn't need it and doesn't throw around like the 60" birds do.

The 70" EXP is a total different animal. It doesn't fly like the smaller birds. It has a larger model personality if you know what I mean.

Yep.

Took a little time to understand it. It flys more like a giant scale and graceful.

I was expecting something like my 70" slick personality but it doesn't have the rudder as big as a slick.
I found it flys a lot nicer lines than the slick but not as violent in the aggressive stuff.

I'd love to see it with EXP size elevators one day, I think it would be sweet as anything in that scale.

Yes, but it pre-dates the exaggerated elevators on the 48 and 60" EXP planes.

I would like it to have an elevator like the 60" EXP planes.
