What servos are you using in the elevator?

I assume your pull-pull on rudder?

I have the Motrofly DM5320-300 and 8s x4000 packs in mine plus a 120A ztw opto esc and I'm still nose heavy with my batteries back against the wing tube, my esc right back till its above the landing gear plates.

I'm using 3.5" of DA standoffs as well on mine.
Hi Roger.

The manual states 5" from the leading edge however mine is 5.5".

The tail servos are 30grams each and the rudder is pull-pull.

Maybe 5" is a bit convservative and i will be ok?

I'm not sure where my actual Cg is too be honest.

I normally balance via the wing tube to be a little nose heavy on the ground then adjust by flying and assessing what the airframe does in the air.

I aim for hands off upright and inverted 1/2 throttle first then try the 45deg inverted upline after that as a final assessment. I try to get a only slight pull to the canopy on the 45 inverted upline.

It flew very well with the cg as it was

I need some bigger packs now for better flight times

Should I be aiming for around 5 amp packs for 6 cell weighing around 800 grams?

If your running 6s then yes 5000mA packs should be where your looking.

The higher the C rating the better IMHO but that will mean more weight.
800g is a nice estimate to start with.

Hey guys,

I'm putting together another 70" Extra from whatever I can get parts wise so if you have anything laying around please let me know. I am putting together a plane to represent Make A Wish Foundation. The color does not matter as I plan to recover it in their colors. If you wish to contribute let me know so I can mail you the forms stating the value of the donation for tax purposes. As it stands now I already have a Wing set to start. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. This plane will be flown at events only to include my Wings for Wishes over Virginia event. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

I have a pair of stabs that I glued the hinges in too close for my liking. They are the Orange/Blue scheme

I kinda figured that big honkin motor would make that plane nose heavy

Yes, but its not much heavier then the 4330 others are using now?

Got it back when I had a 70" slick and all balanced pretty well for me at that time in that plane.

Its not that far off neutral now with just a tad of push inverted.

I have my eye on the used A60-6xs for a stonking 6s setup for this plane.

I will try out the Ice100 over the ZTW120A opto first if nothing else the Ice100 has longer leads between motor and esc that will allow me to push the esc back further under the battery tray so that will help.

Still such a sweet flying plane with no bad habits that I have found as yet.

It's a difference of about 50 grams. I have the 4325 310kv on mine.

I thought the dm4330 was even less difference then that? 560g versus 568g with fibre mount?

I should have got the 4325 at the time, but 3dhs flyers were suggesting the 5320 kept a bit cooler if you run back to back packs and drew less amps for the same setup.
