I just ran some numbers and it is possible that if you maintain a 76% Kv efficiency with the 295Kv Hacker, the 18x12 should deliver 6700 RPM on 8S and 65A. I would guess that it is very likely to happen. If so, then you should get 200 Watts per pound at WOT, plenty for IMAC. This could easily mean 10 minutes on 2x 4S 6600mAh batteries. The motor is 4 oz heavier than the A60-6XS and the two 4S batts will add more weight, but the power should more than make up for it.

The other great thing about using Motrolfly and Hacker is that you can call and confirm this. You can call or email Kyle or Mike at Hacker USA and Ken at Subsonic/Motrolfly will always give you the scoop, and maybe suggest a different Kv to achieve the power and flight time you are looking for.

Thanks again. Have ordered the Hacker. Could not find it locally so postage was $46 . Will try it on 18x12 8s 5000 and see what times I get... Dont know where to get 6600mah packs.. can see 5800's and 8000's...

May even try a 3 bladed prop...

Cheers
Brian

The only 6600's I know of are Thunder Power... crazy expensive. The only good news is that they are light, and two 6600 4S may actually be the same weight as most 2x 4S 5300 Gens Ace. Going to a 4x 4S 3300 Sky's will give you the 6600mAh you need, but it will also add another full pound to the AUW compared to 2x 4S 5000 Sky's. I would try what you have now and see what kind of flight time you will get before investing in any new battery configuration. The idea is to figure out the mAh you use per minute. On the 70 inch flying pattern, you're probably looking at between 550 to 600.

You can join us on the EF Power Thread, which is where we try to determine things like this for EF planes.

I'm running 10,000mah on 8s in series. Stupid power!! When I was at Seff I'm sure you saw me fly and I never took off full power. About a 3rd is all I need. It's nuts cause it sounds like the motor is going to pull the plane apart if I go all during takeoff. I get around 10 minutes but that's pushing it.

What motor are you using, and what batteries? I'm trying to figure out the weights of various setups and I think the 10Ah 8S setup adds something like 46 ounces to the 1x 6S 5000 I had in mind. This means an AUW of just over 12 pounds. I guess if you are getting 2300W, that's still almost 190W per pound but it does bring the wingloading up to about 28 from about 21. How does it fly at that weight?

Actually I weigh in at 10.5 lbs full. I run 2x4s 5000 mah Sky Lipo's and 1x2s 5000mah with 1x6s 5000. My setup is 8s in total. My motor is a custom Turnigy 380 rewound down to a 320kv with ceramics and a 21awg winding. I never need full power but when I do it's there and then some. The motor weight is around 420 grams +/- 10%.

You may want to visit the power thread now. We're discussing this plane... We're actually discussing the DM5320 against the Hacker 28 pole A60-5S V2. It looks like a 20x8 may be okay, but we're trying to produce the same Watts per pound as we're getting on the 4315-480 swinging the 16x8 on the 60 inch. 8S 5000 and a 20x11 will go to between 87 and 92 Amps, but still 7.5 minutes, depending on the motor and battery efficiency... but we are looking at 2600 Watts at this point.

I just get totally lost over there. Too many moving parts and I cant keep track. Just when I think I have it figured out another variable changes everything. I just wanna fly. Is the calculator you are using something you made or can I download it?

looks great to me.will give you the same power on my slick setup Oz. I'm not familiar with those servos but I;m sure you've done your homework on the torque, size, and speed of them so you will be in the slot

I'm testing it now and it seems to work well enough. It's a Java script on a Web page so I'll send you the link once I put up some instructions. I've run a few dozen known setups through it from a 12x6 APC to a 24x10TH Mejzlik and the numbers come out about as close as I need them to, so it may be ready now.
