What is the added benefit of the bottom hinge on the PW1211 section?
You noted that you originally had a top hinge and then changed it...
Did you notice any difference?
My personal preference is for a top live hinged aileron..
With servos underneath. (I know that they are susceptible to damage)
But the fuz does help in this regard!
Oh well ...
Daron has a bottom hinge, so we'll carry out some flight tests!

I had them top hinged on an eps/brown paper version so cant really compare the two.

Peter Wicks designed it to be hinged from the bottom, I dont know why but I'm not going to argue with him

Myself and Gary just had a nice evenings fly with the sun setting and some light air, the Sallys cruised around, popped some aeros and treated us to some hand catching fun.

Hy guys!!!

Half the holidays is past...
My laptop decided to quit life...
So there is no net, Im at a web cafe writing a few words!

I know that Szally is already in my desk in Lisbon!!!
Everything went as planed, lets hope the post guys where kind to the package...

My understanding is that having the hinge on the bottom the surface is more likely to be laminar all the way, wheras the top is likely to be turbulent at some stage so a bottom hinge can take advantage of the laminar flow and there is no penalty for having the gap on the already turbulent top.

That sounds like it makes sense!

Haven't built enough wings to make an informed comment, and they've all been top hinged so far but like Thepasty says, if it's good enough for Peter Wick, it's good enough for me

The wind had dropped dramatically and was very light!
Flying in Alula conditions!

She managed!

Another 10g of lead, and she's a lot more stable!
Daron had her ripping in long sweeping arcs along the ridge!
The rabble Air traffic was a bit heavy...
Sooo...
Daron grounded her..
