The primer I'm using is a two part automotive paint.
It seems to come in one colour only..
A beige sort of colour.
In the photos it appears more yellow.

The plug will now be sprayed black. One sees the imperfections better in black
(If you need to sand more or... respray.
The wing is going white.
I have a ragged cut line on the live hinge, so I'll see if I can sort it out tonight.
There may be some wind this weekend.....

I've had to take a break, but hopefully I can get back to it this weekend. My pod is nearly done shaping, I need to try out my sprayer again. I never really got the hang of it before, getting that nice flow coat.

I was worried that we may have lost you...
I would not blame you...
Removing that chip from shoulder has been really hard for "Thepasty"!
And sitting in slope heaven hasn't helped either!

Take your time..
We should do this for fun and not get caught up in time constraints!
We have enough of those!

Having said that....
I'm on a mission to get this done!
I'll be spraying a bit later....
The final coats for the pod plug and wing.
Wish me luck as this ain't my forte....
And..
I would hate to sand it down and do it all over!

I felt the need to *actually* fly instead of tinker, and I installed my new Airtronics sd10g radio gear and flew my MiniDestiny Homebrew, Vector III, and Wasabi yesterday in borderline conditions (6-10mph). The Vector was great, though not very nimble in that breeze.

I was wearing a big slope grin with the Wasabi for the first time, even in minimal conditions.. its a real pleasure. That was until a landing circuit went bad and it went down the backside onto rocks ( 'tears' 'tears'). My repaired fuse is cracked again, and most unfortunately I cracked up the LE of the right wing quite badly. (surpress swearing now)

Why is it when you're in that 'OMG this is so beautiful, and isnt my plane pretty' state that it usually goes down??? Oh Wellll. More repairs. All in all not my worst crash, but that Wasabi wont be quite so pretty anymore.

Sorry, had to vent. The wife don' get it.

(BTW, the ATX radio is super nice, easy to program, and much better than spektrum so far, and pretty cheap at skipmillermodels.com)

I have to agree with you Johann. Been in my own cloud of toxic paint fumes for the last few days myself (cough cough). Why can't they make a non-toxic paint that is worth a damn? Seems the more toxic the paint the better the finish.

Ben- ref.your Wasabi fus.
You may have seen this mod before. I used a wire type profile gauge to mark out three balsa "bulkheads" from just behind the canopy to the trailing edge.

Pics tell the story- since then my fus has survived much better.

Dont moldies have formers as a standard? Seems it would add a lot to the air frame.

And whilst the body (Plug) should be black...
She's white too!
I didn't have the inclination to change colours!

The plug has to be sanded down and and resprayed anyway,
and will help to tell if I'm sanding to deep!

As i was stumbling around the garage...
i tripped and sent the wing "flying"
It now has two brand new dings!

I could come to terms with it if at least I was flying it!
But dropping it!!!
Same as when my wife drove over a brand new glass Discus wing "placed" on the floor!
Sooo, Dave, I feel for your Wasabi! (the wind didn't sound strong enough by the way, unless you have great lift!)
I'm off to get some flying done.....

I flew Joan (Wazabi) this afternoon and
Whooo..... woooh!!
36 km/h on a 1200 ft slope in huge lift!!
Just gotta love it when they perform!
However...
"Thepatsy", (poor thing...)
Is all chained and schackled in Steve's cellar!
Whilst he is in Slope heaven!
