It is strange that you still get sticking Might be the wax you are using?

Thanks Johann, All the cloth is 48gsm except for the centre section and servo reinforcement, that's 4ounce (113gsm).
I'm not sure what the weights are, I've stopped weighing them, auw always seemed to be around 380g.
I have gone back to the 900mm wing, the yaw damping issue with the longer wing became annoying.

I donno, it's a good Turtle Wax with lots of carnuba. I'll take any suggestions.

Love the color scheme, Dudley.

Thanks Steve, She's so much fun to fly.

Dave, I use RAM release wax, never had any issues with sticking. I tried another wax and I had all kinds of trouble, so I went back to RAM.

Thepasty,
We know that normally this time of year we do'nt get SW's....its just that we are really in need!!........desparate neeeeeeeed!
I am at a stage now when even my wife is wishing we would get!
Having said that, even during our windy season, SW's are becomimg fewer!
Anyways, we shall wait and be gratefull!

Dudley, nice results.

Did you use peel ply as live hinge ? Does it work well ?

Regarding the winds, we are running into the same wind shortage here in Brazil.

In the winter generally blows an E direction and by now just NW around here. We are climbing-up-the-walls and biting fingernails.

Google search for 'RAM release wax' pulls up a boat-building thread from SA, and 2 postings in RCG by a guy named 'DudleyLeRoux'. Oh yeah, others on how to wax your Dodge Ram pickup truck ('bakkie', eh?)

Must be something local to SA. I'll find something relevant from one of the composite building sites. Thanks, Dudley!

I'm not that fond of Ram Wax...
It's more for use with an application where you use PVA as a barrier.
If you want to spray the mylars and use wax, try this....

If you are using a twin pack 2K type paint, Frecote works best but watch out for fish eyes...

That's odd....our summer winds here are typically S-SW.......but we've also been getting more NW winds than anything this year

A little Sally PR

So AMA's monthly Model Aviation magazine has a couple of pages each issue with kind of a "show & tell" of new planes. Rarely, like only once or twice a year, are any of the featured planes sailplanes. So back in January I took it on myself to send something about Sally.

Attached is my submission, just printed in the August issue. They edited some (I think I was a little verbose for this section) and I didn't get any "author's review" before it was printed. But the gist of what I submitted is there, along with a photo of a Sally.

Coincidentally, there's a nice article by Steve Lange (Surfimp) in the same issue on "UltraBatics". A nice read and some great "time-lapse" photos.
