Good catch, JB. I just read over it like it was suppose to be "maiden". Maybe I was just thinking that I was reading the PE Sloper thread instead of Sally!!

What do U guys think about doing ripstop and glass layups?
I was going through some kite stuff I had, and thought about it...
The fabric is very strong and there is almost no diagonal movement, and colors are great!
The only down side I have thought of is, sanding..?
The live hinge is already in, made of white 40 gr ripstop.

Has anyone tried it, or has knowledge about it?
Im starting my second wing layup soon, and if this is one option maybe it would be great to try it...
The result would be something like carbon in fluorescent colors!!!

Hi Layer,

By "ripstop and glass" do you really mean ripstop and resin? If so, I think it would be interesting to try.

I have a RC powered combat background, and we had used ripstop and polyurethane for wing coverings for several years. Strong, and, like you say pretty colors and tear resistant. Since we didn't build it with any vacuum, they ended up a bit heavy, and have been replaced by Zagi tape for the most part. But you can find a build-along still using that method here http://members.cox.net/th-ca/thumb2.html

If you're going to try, I'll caution you that some of the ripstop fabrics tend to repel polyurethane (and I would assume resin as well). You don't want that, because then it would only coat the ripstop instead of impregnating it.

I also used something (I can't remember the name) but it was even thinner than typical ripstop, it was coated, so we had to use Super 77 to apply it.

So let us know how it works for you!

You're not going to Portugal too, are you???

Layer, the Peel ply has a looser weave which helps with the sandwich bond for live hinges.
Stick to peel ply or 50g Kevlar

Took my ZAlly to the slope this afternoon. I only realized how long it's been since the last time I flew her, because I couldn't find her on my TX

Anyway I binder her with the TX and got her ready..... The launch was bumpy but got her trimmed quickly

Did a nice level fly to the right turned around and on the way back she glitched I can't help to think that it might be a DX8 thing because it happens with my Weasel and they have the same clone RX

Well the ZAlly survived to fly another day

New wing is out the bag, trimmed a little and fuse cutout done. just have to clean up the wing tips and cut the hinge line. Fuse needs a little paint touch up.
