You also have the MWC Fip that comes with a built-in FTDI + USB plug.

I think any 8-bit MWC board costing over $25 is nonsense , NAZE32 is better buy.

if you want accel that is not possible. $30-$40 minimum. average ebay price is $50. even that is a bargain compared to a year or two ago.

Any MPU6050 based board will have Accel and Gyro (since in the same chip) for as low as 18$

mpu3050 = hubsan x4 FC
mpu6050 = udi816

either under $15 delivered invense mpu chips are gyro/acc combos and i think you can buy mpu6050 for around $3?

most of the current flight controllers use mpu chips as they fit in the same footprint as the invense itg3205 (gyros only) that older boards use

there are a few toy grade AND hobbygrade flight controllers out there now that are ALL under $30 in fact if you are paying more than $25 for an auto leveling flight controller you are getting ripped off

oops... you are right. we were discussing difference between lite and se and i meant to say compass. quite important if you want to get it back after losing orientation. barometer too although altitude control is less of a problem.

hubsan and other toy quads are not programmable nor have any interfacing ability so are not in the same category as mw.

strange lol there was me thinking

data
clk
gnd
+3.3v
reset

sounds very close to ftdi and isp? aka programming pads? that me looking at the back of a hubsan x4 v361 board right now hang on let me go get a few other "toy" flight controllers to check?

yep programming pads on syma x1 (back of the board) and the mini pet too (top of board in line with the power leads) and hobbyking q-bot ( bottom of board) same as f120? and yep you guessed it udi816 got them too (2 pads on the bottom 4 on top)

just out of curiosity if every single toy flight controller out there didnt have programming pads how exactly would you get the software on there and be able to tune the 1st board at least to fly? so you could copy the settings to all the other boards?

wouldnt your way of thinking mean you would have to buy pre-programed chips that worked for your board only?

better way would be to just mass produce chips and bring out pins for you to program chip yourself thus being able to have ONE chip (hay maybe like arduino?) that could be used for 100 purposes rather than 100 chips that can only ever work with ONE thing?
