Cartwright SkyBuggy now a Stevens AeroModel kit!
Several months ago our good friend Kris Cartwright dropped by the shop with his original CO2 powered skybuggy free design (no relation to the Berkley kit). He asked it it might make a good subject for today's electric RC equipment and if SA might have any interest in bringing it to life.
The fuselage alone of his little ship seemed to fit very well with the general flavor around the shop (at which time it was full of FREDe's of various sizes) and conjured up fond memories of lines present in Clancy's bee series. Kris sketched up some ideas for the missing tail feathers and wings. And left the project here at the store for us to dream on.
The project was promptly assigned to our new CAD monkey (Mark Young). Mark did a great job of capturing the spirit of this fun little RET electric cabin plane. The model builds in typical Stevens AeroModel flavor and covers easy thanks to simple but fun lines.
Today Kris's brother dropped by with his new Stevens AeroModel SkyBugE - all dolled up and ready to maiden. Quick with the camera, I thought I'd share a few snaps with the group.

SkyBuggy echos the nostalgic lines of the long since discontinued Andy Clancy Lazy Bee model line and features a refreshing splash of Kris Cartwright's own keen eye for design. When the above is combined with Stevens AeroModel's modern model engineering, clear and thoughtful instructions, and state of the industry cutting techniques the result is simply fantastic on all levels.

Count me in... I fly my other Steven's planes every chance I get.. and I can never get enough of my Lazy Bees... sounds like a win-win to me.

Gald you guys are enjoying into the concept! Mark will have the prototype on display at NEFI this weekend. From what I've been told the manual is being de-bugged and production should commence shortly.
