I am finally free of my Hornet !!!

I have decided to conceed defeat with the MS Hornet.

Somewhere along the one year of paying money "non-stop" for this heli it dawned on me it that I was fighting a lost cause.

Infinite upgrades, constant tail gears chewed up (at the main gear end), and no one could find the cause.

It seemed that everyone elses Hornet worked except mine. I even built two for my frineds and THEIRS flew fine. (I should have kept one of them, but I am too honest of a guy).

Whatever the case was I will never know. In a final fit of rage yesterday, (after removing the expensive aluminum parts), I stomped it to death.

I had my family join in and do the "death dance". (baseball bats where used !)

My children and I started a fire and threw the mangled frame in. The beautyful sound of carbon fiber frying and plastic melting provided me with infinte satisafction.

And then, as I watched the ashes raise to the sky I thought ,"Hey, it finally flew !"

There is very little anyone can say to me about this heli that will make me feel that I did the wrong thing.

I have over 20 years of flying RC helicopters. I own X-cells, Raptors (60 and 90 class), a Logo 10, and Eco8, a corona, and a picolo.

ALL FLY WELL AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THEM !!!

All except the Hornet. Many friends offered opinions and to help.

Several excellent local Hornet friends tried to help also but the "demon spawn" that I called a Hornet was still unable to fly.

And now I can finally have closure.

No more Hornet.

Short of selleing all my spare parts for it, I done with it.

Freedom is a wonderful thing.

I am finally free .................

It sounds to me like you crashed it bad. Then you blew your top and finished it off.

Ill keep an eye out in F/S for those spares.

Sorry 50feet

No crash.

Remeber: You must first FLY before you Crash.

This puppy NEVER got in a hover. It would chew up the tail gear and start skipping teeth within the first 10-20 sec of main rotor run up. Tail rpm would go down, (of cousre), so no tail authority no hover.

In one year I must have gone through Ten of these gears, while listening to people tell me "Oh you need to replace this, upgrade that, etc etc"

I replaced shafts, main gears etc etc.

Too bad, because I have flown other Hornets and they where pretty good. In fact, in some cases their owners where shocked to see their Hornet fly OGE for first time.

Its ok. There are so many new micro's comming out these days that I am sure I will be picking up another one.

I am pretty comfortable with my action, so it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I am just glad I did what did because it just wasn't worth it. I have limited time, and I defintely over exceed "wasting my time" on this thing.

With all the other models I have, it was just a pain. I thought about selling it but I just did not want to pass the problem to someone else. Especially when so many other folks had already spent time working on solving the "mystery".

The motor was/is (of course I took the motor off before the step)
a hacker B20-26s with a shulze 18he esc.

At least I will be using the motor on one of my parkfliers.

You guys keep them flying and have fun !

Hi Nick,
That story sure gave me a laugh, although, perhaps it is a little discouraging for the other guys. I sure can sympathize with you!

Nick,

I too felt like that for a while - but now have a FP Hornet that flies OK (and about to do battle with a CP Hornet kit! )

As ScotY says, it sure gave me a laugh!

Hang on to your sanity!

Cheers,

Thanks TURNANDBURN

It sort has that "spiritual cleansing" effect, doesn't it ?

I wonder if I can use any of parts or even my Hacker BL on the HB.
