May I ask a (probably stupid) question...

The "Motor Board" - Is that the white plastic board on which the metal motor mount is attached - right ?

And also the "Motor Board" has the nose wheel attached in these plastic "rings" - right ?

http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...g?d=1278369163

Cheers, Martin.

yes that's the motor board or what i call a firewall. it's the weak spot on this plane. it just doesn't hold up to hard landings.

Nitroplanes has a new coupon code. Note that it's mispelled once on their main page.
It's EVERYPLANE, not EVERYPLANES
Here are current coupons:

sky trainer 400

Know anywhere I can get parts, I need a prop shaft that goes on the motor and a prop/spinner holder that attaches on the shaft.
Thanks

you can get all the parts for the sky400 from nitorplanes. but the motor has been out of stock for a long long time.
i havent found a spiner shaft for that motor anywhere.

when mine got bent i got a pice of metal and drilled a hole just
a little bit bigger than the shaft. then you put the shaft in the hole (lol)...
and tap with a hammer till the base of the prop adapter is flush.
it will be close to center, but this is just a cheep, simple fix till you can get a new motor.

i just got a monster power .10 from hobbypartz.com with a new spinner and a 10/7 apc prop, and some 3cell 2200mah 30c lipos.
i am going to run the new motor and lipos with the stock ESC on my wattmeter
2nite to see if the esc can take it. i will post the info and pics for the mod on the motor board, and the motor.

we are all here to help.

my guess is it would cost nearly as much to buy and ship the shaft as it would to just buy a new motor!

Pono would it be dirty of me to suggest you supply pics of you inserting your shaft in the hole
in all seriousness that is smarter than trying to bend it back with channel locks and a clamp i'll have to remember that ...technique ... next time i'm in need

i went out for a maiden flight with my new MONSTER POWER .10 with the stock ESC and a 10/5E apc prop and a SKY LIPO,2200mah 30c and it pulled
32.5amp and about 325watts. this is a good setup for this bird, its alot better the the stock motor. iam going to try useing a 40amp esc with a 10/7, or a 10/4.5 with a 4cell.

iam going out to fly 2day with my cam, and i will post a vid...

ps.
the motor board mod that i made is workinng out very very good.
IT'S UNBRAKEABLE

i've put about 20 flights on my 400 with the new monster power .10 and the motor board mod i made. and she is flying GRATE!....
iam using a 10/5apc, and stock ESC, and a 2200map 30c lipo.
shes fast, about 55-65mph.

THE STOCK MOTOR AND PROP IS CRAP!!!

my mod is still in 1 pice, no bend, no crack's... THIS MOD ROCKS
looks like i will never have 2 fix the motor board again.
if you dont wunt 2 keep changeing the motor board over and over again,
try my mod out, its cheep, ez, and under 10 buck.
it took me about 1-2hr. 2 do.

ps.
if you use this motor on the stock motor mount, reduce some of the angle on the torque roll.

This is the setup in my mod. The stock motor is a 2836 900 kv "FMS Models" type (seen on the left) the new is a Turnigy C4240 900kv. The prop dimensions for the original 3-blade setup were said to be 13x9 which is nonsense: diameter is actually 11, pitch probably also less then what is said. Moreover, this size indication is not printed or attached as a label but it was created when the prop was moulded. Shame...
I gave this weakish motor and prop to my 1200 mm biplane and test-ran it on 3 cells. Very moderate thrust, lots of resonance from the ill-balanced prop, and heated up motor after the static test...
Nevertheless, what the Cessna has now looks nice, and now I will replace the nylon firewall with a ply one, with a longer front gear shaft and additional upper gear bearing.

I was debating between this and the new Flyzone Corvalis that is coming out and now i know I'm gonna get the Flyzone. Nitroplanes just has too many quality issues, just for a little more money I can get flaps, lights and better quality with a Flyzone Corvalis

What's the diff between the skytrainer 400 originally posted and this one?
http://www.nitroplanes.com/60a-dy893...rf-silver.html

One buddy has a big Lancair and these look very much like it. Another buddy is interested in the skytrainer 400 and I"ve been pointing him here to this thread.
