I like this tree pic to looking down looks kind of arty.

I'm guessing the #20 does av out for fpv, and I found the fish lens, but does anyone do a compact av out cable??

Any one know of a way of giving the futaba 9 cap a nother Chanel or two ? Is there any way of hacking it soft where wise? Or could i use some kind of mix? Or is there a gimble controller ( two pots ) that has ppm insertion capability like the flytrin head tracker ?
I have run out of chanels fir my big hex and still need to operate the cam switcher Cheers

Iconic-X FPV maiden flight

Ok,
So here is my effort for today:

My Iconic-X FPV Quad finally took to the air this evening.

All done in a hurry so:-
  • The motors aren't balanced.
  • The KK2 flight controller is straight out of the box.
  • The ESC's are Plush 30As (flashed with BLHeli firmware).
  • The motors are a set of cheap ($22 each) 2810Q 750KV from China.
  • The props are Gemfan 10*4.5 Nylon/carbon.
  • The camera is my GoPro Hero HD2 (that was held straight on to the airframe by a rubber band ).

I was expecting lots of jello on the video but it actually it came out fine.

Flight performance is encouraging: - It's got lots of lift.
Punch the throttle indoors and you're going to hit the roof!
It's on 3S - I won't be needing 4s for this.
The longest flight was nearly 15 minutes on a 3S 3700 pack.

It moves better than my TBS discovery. (It feels a lot lighter).

Can't wait to get it kitted out for FPV .

ICONIC-X FPV Maiden flight (2 min 1 sec)

I got out for a bit with the hex and took some snowy photos it was a bit windy and trying to snow but surprisingly no snow got on the lens. I had to clear a landing area as the snow was quite deep and was worried about blowing it into the camera this worked well but trying to see the landing area coming home was not so easy and sat the camera in the snow once it seems to be fine.
Crackin' pics!
And tidy set-up on the hex!

Any chance of hacking apart something like an orange Tx/Rx, should be fairly cheap.

there's a thread or two around for multiplexing additional channels into one. FPVKiwi? Channel wizard? Alternatively (and at the risk of sounding like a stuck record) buy a 9x and flash the firmware for up to 16 channels if your Tx module can handle it. My dragonlink takes up to 12.

There's a distinct lack of scale FPV in the UK as far as I can see, you are the man to rectify this! Maybe I could do it to my BD-5 too. Some scale air-to-air would be cool.

Great shots Nick. I'm glad you've got your Hex sorted and flying. It seems worth all of that effort now.
