although I'm setting up my Bixler for FPV i really want it for my Tricopter and have no intension of going to far, I'm aware the RTH wont work with a tri but its a bonus on the bixler.
all I know is the failsafe on spektrum stops the motor and holds the servos at there last known position, but i would have thought the RTH would take this over.

this looks like it could start to get very expensive for a noob if i need a different radio.
If you are going to stick with your existing DX6i then you could try this:-
I use the Orange 910 receivers in my multirotors (with satellites). The reason for choosing them is that they are a lot cheaper than the over price spektrum rx's and they have a programmable failsafe!
You can have the standard "closed throttle and hold" like the normal spektrums or preset positions (more like JR).
This works well with my NAZA (it does RTH then autoland). It could also be used to make a Dragon OSD switch to autopilot and fly back home.
That said; I wouldn't want to push a 2.4ghz system to 1k let alone 1.5k.
I've got to 1k on 200mw 5.8ghz I would advise you not to try and go any futher than that though.

I'd see how you get one with the cheaper option and may be think about LRS next summer. I'm sure there will be a few for sale before then

Hi Guys,

I've been away for a few weeks, and I'm just catching up.

Not wanting to drag, or give that Trappy rubbish any kudos, but I agree with those that think his stunts are bad for FPV, and I've not seen anything in his videos that impressed me. There are far better FPV videos of RC Helicopters doing what he did, and they are far harder to fly than a quadcopter.

If you want to hurt him; try boycotting stores that sell their stuff (and tell them why).

Just my thought

Those are the two main retailers in the UK and both run by genuinely nice people. Simon had done more for FPV in the UK than any other.

Boycotting them would be a mistake IMO

In other news:

The FPV ParkJet has some new bits, now (in theory) it can do 100mph!

I must admit. A bit less interest toward the Watford indoor sessions than I thought :P.

Not only that - if you set something up over there - it might kill the Twickers Indoor flying, both may get low attendance and not be cost efficient to run!

The warehouses are at the top right corner. quite a large complex. The business park itself is extremely long with a big pond, wide grass banks etc... The only reason I mention the park itself is that we may have limited permission to fly the park! Run the gauntlet up the middle of the park :P.

IRC 5.8 600 with an IRC SPW.

It'll be fun. The old set up would only take 2s even though it was meant to be 3s. Rubbish HK ESC I think. I had to replace some bits to go 3s so I just went whole hog and got the recommended fast power set. The motor sounds mental spinning up without the prop, I'm used to low KV stuff so 3400 is damn fast!

Who's down the field tomorrow DDers?
