The new GoPro Hero 3 comes with an iPhone (Not sure about android) app, that allows a live video feed straight to your phone with the ability to adjust the settings whilst your at it,

http://gopro.com/software-app/gopro-app
I think this is for short distances for framing up a shot, not for long distance video monitoring. Could be wrong though

Edit:
I've just done some quick research and it looks like it's acheived using the wifi backpack. There are apps for both iPhone and Android.
The range is limited, but further than I thought.
GoPro Wi-Fi BacPac range test (2 min 23 sec)

Thanks for that

The quad shaft to shaft is 22" booms are 10" there is no flex to speak of when I try to bend them at that length so they will not flex under motor load IMO but will flex and absorb some impact ( I hope) because I WILL crash

The booms are clamped by "compressing" the two 1/4 ply 6" discs ( decks) using 6mm nylon machine screws through the tubes the ply is soft enough to grip the tube very firmly I did elonggate the tube holes slightly to allow me to twist the tubes a couple of degrees

The last three inches of the tubes has some 1/4 ply in the end to stop the "compresion " crushing the tubes ( the ply is cut to is three pieces one for each side of the mounting hole and one between the mounting holes

It weighs 28 oz without the kk2 board which I understand is not to bad for that size by comparing weights with friends wooden quads but i would be interested how this compares to other quads

The electrical conduit came from wicks @1.73 for 3 mtrs ( cheapskates rule OK)

Range would be over the WiFi I guess.
I was hoping to hook my phone up to my ground station and have a good quality screen anywhere.

A noob question, but what would the chances be of rigging a different antenna/power to the BacPac?

Be good to meet you guys. I also fly at the old Wisley airfield off the A3. There is a club who fly there on a Sunday so I avoid that time so I'm not treading on there toes but they said they can't stop me flying here. Maybe we could also meet there one Saturday.
Cheers, Mark

You should defiantly meet up with James and Mike at Richmond, Its a great place to fly and those guys can help loads. James gave me my first LOS fixed wing flight there and also let me fly his FPV EZ* before i found my local field and the Dirty Dozen.

The signal range is determined by the universal wifi backpack that is used for video linking, not the camera.

I though the same especially since my Cinemizer goggles connect to the iPhone. But I was told there is a lot of delay on the video playback and it is not usable for flying on that video feed.

I've also heard there is a slight delay in the picture. Not bad for framing shots etc, but not very good for FPV. Plus the range limitations will be a major issue if you are flying.
