The only reason is that I've used those servo's before and they are good value. if however you have a preference that you have experience with use them .

Give you an idea of how much fun we USED to have with flying the OS Pulse Jets & Dyna Jets on control line planes.

Night flying displays (at the Royal Show) where always VERY spectacular - back half of the jet glowing bright red as it roared through the air, long tail of fire out behind it - FUN !

Of course that was before the 'Fun Police' banned them.

Something about the little bit of noise they made and some sort of 'fire risk'.

Didn't know they used to use them on CL models , they'd look awesome at night
Did you buy the motors or were they home made ?

So I maidened the mini swift, damn my impatience, it was far to windy for a beginner. I threw her got her even and a gust nose dived me. Bent the motor shaft. Fotunatley a pretty easy fix. My better judgement will be keeping the swift grounded until better conditions

Yup, gotta be a windless day for maidens, so you can easily see/feel all the quirks in a new aircraft.

Quite a long time ago now - the OS Pulse Jet Mk2 (?) dating back from when they first came out for sale in the mid 1950's, where sold through local hobby shops.

Remember seeing them for sale in a Perth hobby shop in the late 1960's.

One was a regular flier at the Perth Royal show for years - VERY spectacular at night - thrust tube glowing bright red hot and a great long, highly visible white / yellow / red tail of flame several meters long following it.
It could be clearly heard over all the other night time noises for kilometers away. - -- FUN !

Think the 'Dyna Jet' was a US made beast of much the same size and power (NOISE) output and about the same price.

Some still come up for sale from time to time on US fleebay, sometimes in 'as new - un-used, NIB condition, for a couple of hundred bucks.

Back then to let one loose in an R/C model was unthinkable - home built R/C sets usually made by the modeler, very limited range, signal interference, valves, 8 foot high ground based antennas, transmitter boxes that sat on a table, rubber powered escapements, etc. So it was C/L or nothing.

Some modelers with the necessary skills in metal work even scratch built their own pulse jets from scratch.

If your interested - there is a ' BMS BAILEY Pulse Jet Engine ' for sale on US fleabay tonight ( Friday 23rd July 2010 ) currently with 19 bids for it and at US $201.
The 'BAILEY' seems to be very much the same as the 'DYNA JET' in size and output. 21-3/4 inch over all length, Weight - 14 ozs, Thrust - 5.5 lbs.

Heres a few pics showing my "eyewash cup" vent scoop...only done one so far...bcoz I have to be in the "right mood" to get the second one to match up..lol! The angle didn't come out flush like I'd planned, but oh well.

Notice how I'm missing kind of an important part. Three motors on the way.

That pulsejet video was really cool- had no idea they sounded like that...so...eerie and creepy.

Yer, those V1's not only had the physical destructive power in WW2, the sound of them coming in , then the silence before the impact, really was a sinister psychological weapon as well .

Got a quick question. I have a Emax FC2812 motor which i was going to use as a spare for my floater jet until my floater hit a house roof and caught fire

Would it be a suitable transfer to the mini swift? Its 3s, 1534kv and will use a TGS Sport 6x5E prop. What you think?
