Dave at aircraftworld advised staying below 1,000watts on the L series. 20 cells is OK with a smaller prop. Heatsink might help. Perhaps others have experience with this.

It depends on the series motor too.
I was told to be carefull going over 20 cells on a B50-14XL with the pressed on ends. The newer ones have the ends bolted on.
They did add that as long as the motor and gearbox are supported well, the older motors are fine.
