You're not alone. First time at a new slope I hit a nice late model Audi with a heavy lam film covered combat wing. Nearly crapped my pants. The owner was good about it though. Turns out he was paralysed in a PG accident and flew RC gliders from his wheelchair. Really nice guy. His wife launched and retrieved the plane for him. I wonder how many of our wives and GFs would do that?

hehe, we didn't film the day where a car came bimbling through the DS zone (or carpark as they call it...), and I had to abort a lap, got blown across the road and into a backyard.

Alula, Dsing

Alula. Dsing the dunes, at a perfekt place for the little bird.
Wind, 10 knots, and 45 gram ballast on the back.
Very easy to DS at this spot, located at Denmarks northeast coast.
Almost 3 hours of DS flying this fine day.

Alula. Dsing the dunes. (1 min 57 sec)

DS, different style and speed

These videos was taken only 5 min. aparth.
This shows the huge difference in the speed and style of the two types of gliders, under the same DS conditions.
Wind: 12 knots.

Alula, My secret DS site. (1 min 47 sec)

Destiny, maiden Dsing in 12 knots wind. (2 min 7 sec)

Come on is that DS?

I've had many aborted slope landings that look just like these video circuits. I may do it twice in a row and join the DS club.
You have to work with what you've got. Any ds is better than no ds and even low speed is fun. Dont bag it out till you try it. DS is one of the hardest but most rewarding types of rc flying, once you get hooked theres no going back- no matter how many planes you wreck!

withdrawals

Hi again,
Just found this thread and watched all the vids and now im itchin to get out for a fix! All my planes are in for rebuilds- all getting 10mil NS covering in stead of tape. We recently covered my dad's skua with it and its unreal! it needed no filament tape so it was almost as light as before but its much stiffer span wise and is hard like a mouldy! For the Aussy victorian guys, i have found a really nice spot near kilcunda thats tight but fast. Cant wait to get back out there! Ill try to get some video next time.
