i just downloaded a topographical map plug-in for google earth. choose your location and after 5 seconds it comes up as a topographical map.

unfortunately there is no key but there are the ft markings every 200 feet or so

Count me in. Radian flyer (good 1 hour flight last night) near Racine, MN.

Do you have an e-mail list that notifies of club activities? If so, I'd like to get on.

Fear not

The rumors of this thread's death have been greatly exaggerated. On the contrary it is just getting started. I am already working on a date for the next event. My vision of this thread is that it be used as a message board for interested soaring pilots to coordinate impromptu gatherings, give and get advice and general sharing of information. I will still maintain the email list for announcements as not everyone is following this thread.

Personally, I have been busy with life so have not had time to work on much of anything other than work and some home remodeling projects. Like I said, don't worry, it's just getting going.

A little video

Here is a little video of the Rusty Thumbs slope event. By the time I got to doing the video the Riser was out of commission. Somehow the last video clip did not get Bill's plane along with Ray's, sorry about that Bill. I will try to do better next time.

Enjoy,

Wayne

Surplus Carbon Fiber "Tow"

I have a bunch of this stuff...100's of feet. Works well as a stiffener or strengthener when soaked with epoxy. Let me know if you need any.

I'm also looking for a spare Spectrum reciever.

Great Thermals in SE MN Monday

Anyone else notice the great thermal conditions (at least in the Spring Valley/Racine/Stewartville area) on Monday at about 2PM?

For the first time, I needed to escape from the lift in order to keep my refurbished Radian in sight.

Sadly I was looking out my windows at them. I had guests over on Monday and was thinking the entire time that it was looking like a great day to be flying. Did you have a stopwatch with you during your flights? If so let me know the times of your flights and I will put them down for the summer long contest.

Trouble is, I climb on the motor and fly alone...so no real way to track my duration. I would like some sort of throttle timer or throttle/altitude limiter and maybe a built in timer on transmitter.
