A 3mm locking nut goes on the shaft first to keep the assembly from turning.
A 3mm nut
The prop with adapter inserted
Another washer and nut.
Step one...... all the parts, and lock nut already on gearshaft.

I'm lazy. Since the nice machined aluminum adapters specifically for this purpose aren't available any more, I use the parts GWS sells just for this. There are two suitable adapters in the package. Todd's Models and AeroMicro have them, among others. A picture can be seen on AeroMicro's site on this page:
You do have to cut off the small end to get the prop nut fit tightly, though.
I don't know why this URL doesn't work if you click on it - somehow R/C Groups is adding some "%20" and such into it that aren't there, and then it doesn't work. The link is from about halfway down the "propellers, others" page on the AeroMicro site.
