Is that good or bad, BM? How fast did it go? Interested to see how those blades went from a pilot's perspective....

Speed seemed around the same as the graupner cam prop - 5.2 x 5.2

Temps up a bit... but pushed the pack a little far. 61 degrees for battery, 67 degrees for motor. Used around 1400 mAHr out of 1800 pack.

Alloy turbo Spinner worked better... just wish the yoke was smaller.. might have to look at making a unit myself.

I had a cam there, but forgot to use it... will do so next time I head down...

I have a Mega 16/45/1.5 RCE planned for one. Specs are 1985 kv and 200g...a wee bit heavier than the Dr. Mad but it has a 5mm shaft (that is the "C" for combat) which adds 10g over a 3.17mm. 6 pole too so hopefully a tad more torque so it can spin a Graupner 5.5x5.5 fixed prop. I just need CHY to finish so my planes arrive.

Maybe it's the old man flying for too long in the snow syndrome, but hey! The all white wing gets lost flying inverted in a cloudy sky. I'm sure you don't want that....
Thnx for the tip,
but luckily I have 10/10 vision and can fly small planes without markings very very far away,
me163 80cm gps locked over 800 meters/310km/h

but once I get to that point, flying it,
it's all downhill and plain fun,
I hope servos will hold up to the task, and motor/prop combo will work ok on 4s.
I don't have 5x5 for now, only 4.75x4.75 so it won't fly as fast as i would like it to, but at least the amp draw will be smaller so batt. will cycle in properly

Didn't the 5x5 APC used to be thought of as a poor prop? I know I've mentioned it before but it's been a while and can't remember what was actually said. I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the old FJ thread?

about 5x5, I think I saw it recommended somewhere (even here maybe) for 2w25 (2660 KV) 4S pylon use combo

Yes it's recommended but I just remember it being said it wasn't a particularly good prop, maybe inefficient compared to others? I'll have a look and see what I can find later as it's bugging me now.

I can't find the thread/post I read waaaay back about the 5x5 (pretty sure it was in the original FJ or maybe Stryker thread) but I did find a small thread on it.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...t=5x5+ineffici

Seems my memory isn't too bad , the 5x5 might not suit certain airframes, draggy foamies being 1 of them, but seems it's good for slippery airframes. Posts 3 and 12 explain a bit more.

Feefo,

This might be something other than what you are trying to find....but:

Some guys claimed APC 5X5 not being as good as other similar sized props.

Yeah that's what I remember being said, but it was a while since I read it so I wasn't 100% sure.

Dr. Kiwi has done tons of prop and motor tests here on RCG and he has always maintained that the 5x5 is garbage. But his opinion is based 100% on his static tests - he sees pretty poor static thrust compared to watts in. Lots of people have argued with him that in the air, the 5x5 does just fine.

My biggest concern about the APC is the lack of material around the hub. The Aeronaught has an option for 8mm prop adapters and the hub is very solid.

Video of yesterdays flight... please excuse the language at the end... deployed spoilers before I had straightened for approach & lost roll authority... mad switch flipping occurred!

Not the clearest video... lens was a little dirty and some zoom would have been nice... it's only a cheapie KeyChain cam, velcro'd to my sunnies! Watch in HD for best results

This is HK Dr MadThrust motor on 5S1800 Zippy with Ice 100A ESC and DUP 4.75 x 6.2 CF folders.
