Parkzone Radian Challenges Rotor Clouds
I was loading boards into my Excursion when I noticed Rotor Clouds forming over
my house. In spite of the winds on the ground gusting to over 25 kts, I decided
to send up my Radian R/C Motor-Glider with a video camera.
I attached a long streamer to the tail of the glider for stability, visibility,
and drag. This proved essential as the Glider would have been lost without it.
I was unable to enter the clouds due to turbulence, and visibility issues. The
clouds were approximately 2,000 ft agl, I am guessing.
I have been using a streamer to slow down and stabilize the planes I put
cameras in now for several flights, and i highly recommend doing so, it
really helps smooth things out. And for $1.00 a streamer, you can't go wrong.
The flight was much more challenging than the video would seem to indicate,
mostly because the VnE of the radian was not sufficient to safely dive away from
the very strong, very turbulent lift encountered. There were several
points in the flight where I thought the plane might be lost.

Um where are the rotor clouds?? Those are fair weather cumulus, or am I wrong. I could be as you are filming from the future, 2094 perhaps developers can see what they will build in that vid. Nice hand catch though, well I think it was.
