Phil

I haven't gotten any further than I left it at the end of building season. in fact, if you take into account that my dog chewed up the cockpit tub I made, then I'm actually a little further behind than where I left off. LOL. I think I am going to go another route for the time being though and do what you did..............build a balsa model that I can fly/test. I want to have this thing in the air by next spring and I doubt that will happen if I continue with the plug work. I just don't have the work space to continue along that path at the moment, so I'm going to use my wife's dining room table to build a balsa version. I'm sure it will progress very quickly, so there'll be lots of photos of the build.

Completed fitting out the wings today and sorted out the wing mounting bolts. Need to finish off sheeting the underside of the wings and then sand to shape.

Did some revised weight calcs last night, im looking at an all up weight of about 6 1/4 lb with a wing area of 521 sq inch, that should give me a wing loading of about 27 1/2 oz/sqft which is better than i thaught it would be, with flaps aswell.

well Phil, the good news is, is that it looks like a Froggy and as Julian says, "It's a beast". LOL. it's a great size to fly and the weight looks good. twin 70's on 5S ought to to fly that just nice. forgive me for forgetting, but what powerplant(s) did you decide on? I'de be real tempted to fly that on twin WM400 MKII's though, if you made it available to be built. hint hint.

Hey Dark Angel, thanks. I can't wait to get it finished either.
Rich, all the ducting was designed for minifan, i think it would be to big for wm400. Saying that, i haven't bought them yet, been using an old mk1 for measurements. Wish i had thaught of the wm400 before.

Im now at the point where iv'e started sanding everything down to shape, been relegated to the garden by my better half, too much dust apparently. Im still not sure about covering material. I was going to glass it but then thaught about weight and was thinking about a film covering, etched and painted. What do you guys think will be lightest? Also, ordering 2 minifan pro's this week, as for motors im thinking about mega 16/15/2, any thaughts?

Cheers, Phil

What's your AUW now?

I love the fiberglass finish.
Just a rookie at it, but it only adds 100-150 grams. For quality of finish there is no comparison. IMHO

Hey Julian, with everything fitted im looking at about 6 1/2 lbs auw before covering and paint with a wing area of 520 sqinch. I must admit fibreglass was my first choice.
