I built a Zero and converted it to a Rufe,

I need a motor/esc/battery size upgrade suggestion, Most likely a Brushless upgrade the stock EPS350C and ICS-300 Speed Controller is just not powerful enough to get it on step and out of the water

I'm new to elec planes so thanks for any help

My plan after doing a little research is to use a 1300 3s lipo and see if the extra voltage is enough before I buy an upgrade brushless. I figure I'll need the better batteries anyway.

Just to follow up,

I did get a 3s lipo and it seemed when I hooked it up it would be plenty, Monday I took it to the pond and the servos just buzzed and locked. After doing a little tinkering I come to believe the ESC is the problem. It's a real weird problem as it's putting out 5 volts like it should, but it making my FASST Rx Lock up. When I try a regular Rx, it still does the same servo buzzing and glitching. When I bypass the esc and use a regular battery everything works fine with either Rx. My only guess is it's putting out a dirty RF of some sort

I'm not sure if when I flipped it it did get a little wet or the higher voltage pack was the problem, but I really should get a 3s lipo compatible ESC at the minimum, I more than likely will just get a brushless combo compatible with 3s lipos and give it another try.

I'm not impressed with the GWS electronics, The Rx was DOA, works only if the Tx antenna is right on top of the Rx... and now the ESC is dead too (maybe my fault?)

Oh well,, stay tuned, I'm not giving up yet

I was looking at that motor combo a guy recommend @ hobbyking http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=4706 I have a question if you know, When you look at the motor only http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=5111 it shows the plastic mount in the picture for the GWS stick,, But it doesn't show it in the "combo" picture,, you think it comes with it in the combo anyway?

It is a ICS-300

The reciever that doesn't work is a R-6NII (futaba shift)

Oh well, for a moment I thought I'd get some help from you guys,
After doing some more testing, it seems I now have a servo that won't stop buzzing too

Rx DOA
ESC questionable
Servo buzzing at idle for no apparent reason

Sorry for my late reply.

The ICS-300 works well with the stock brushed motor at 7.2 - 9.6V. You have throttle down to idle on your transmitter first, connect the ESC with battery pack, then throttle up. This ESC needs to be activated from idle. But this ESC could NOT work with any brushless motor that you're going to find out. You have to apply a brushless ESC instead, ie GWS ESC15A or ESC25A.
While the receiver R6NII should work well with your Futaba Tx in PPM mode. Would you let me if you have apply GWS Rx crystal on it.

The ICS-300 does work fine with 350 motor, it just not enough power for my application

The Reciever never worked, yes I'm using a GWS crystal, with the Transmiter antenna out I can't get more than 3-4 meters away before it stops working.
