I figure the foam tops would be a little more forgiving if a plane brushed one

Think about a stacks race day

I had set them up in my yard as a small red bull race course when I was flying the EPP yak...

Dave, not with the AS3X though, right? They don't come out until December.

My thoughts on AS3X:

I like the idea for the little planes. Expands the flight envelope to include higher winds and smaller indoor venues. I believe it is a major coup for HH and corners the umx market. HK is advertising a littlE foam full fuselage Slick 360 that is now virtually obsoleted by HH's AS3X.

HH's inclusion of the Taxi (vfo type thing) and a Geebee display that AS3X runs the gamet of airframes successfully (major home run for HH). Tim at Doylestown put a gyro in his QuiQue yak but I did not really like the effect that a single gyro produces (it is NOT like the gyro Yak in Realflight). At that time I surmised that if you put a 3-axis system (like flybarless) into a plane you might have something. I Was very surprised to see this in umx planes but then again, HH had stabilization in umx heli's so maybe it wasn't such a stretch.

My strategic thoughts on AS3X or any other 3-axis stabilization are that:

1. Guys who consider buying the 3dhs Buck Huck are thinking of spending their money on a AS3X umx now.

2. It will help develop skills on lower and intermediate pilots

3. You don't need stabilization in 3dhs planes (very stable already) :-)

4. It was inevitable

Wedge: "Economies of Scale"..wow..I'm impressed. This is when companies become overly large with multiple locations and duplications of layers of management that impede decision making and reduce efficiency and ultimately reduce profitability.

I would just love to know why everyone says the gebee is unstable? It does have high wing loading and has poor gear placement/ design. They fly great the just land poor. For scale aerobatics I love a good geebee. If you want to see something that looks funny watch one do a HAKE pass. It looks rediculous.

The Geebee, a good plane (full scale) except for the following:

1. Undesize rudder
2. Unstable in all axes
3. High stall speed

Most rc Geebees have been cleaned up a little so they don't really fly that bad.

Anyone flying today? Visited Doylestown yesterday and it did NOT flood in the recent rains. Field looks great and weather today is great...SO LET'S GO FLYING!!!!!!!

Undersized rudder? How about small but highly effective rudder? The full scale geebee may have suffered from some of that but most of the rc geebee's definetely do not. My point is for the rc geebee there is no need for the gyro just more time on the sticks so you learn to land properly. Flying is definetly out for me today. Have obligations to the family.
