If it turns out to be approx. 8lbs then that will be great because then you will be able to fly it on 6S 5000 with an inexpensive outrunner, get reasonable flight times and have really good overall performance. It just seems like planes this size turn out closer to 9lbs which starts to tax a 6S/outrunner power system. Either way, I can't wait to see it perform. The Extremeflight stuff just flies so well no matter what the size.

The 70" Slick comes around 9lbs, and people are getting great performance on a 6S 5000 setup.

I love my 78" extra, but don't think I have room in my stable for another 70" plane at the moment. But I love EF entering the 70" segment, because it just helps validate that size plane and you will start to see more manufacturers selling parts targeting this size plane.

Hovering at just under half stick, flying for 7-8 minutes putting 2629-3562mah back in the pack, and all components only warm. I think 6S 5000 is the new 3S 2200 and we will see more and more 70" airframes for this setup. I know I want this one and if they make a 70" EF Yak I will buy one. HINT HINT

Actually, that's the plane I was thinking of when I mentioned 9lbs and a little too much for an outrunner on 6S 5000. From the videos I've seen the outrunner powered 70" Slicks look a bit sluggish. That's not to say the don't fly great because they do and there's plenty of video and satisfied customers around here to prove it. I also noticed it seems like a number of people are putting 8S in them these days. IMHO 7S or 8S i a more natural match when pairing the Slick with an outrunner power system. I'm sure it stays nice and cool and keeps the amps down so flight times aren't too short. All that said though the numbers you've mentioned below are very good. If you're hovering at under half stick throughout your flight and after 8 minutes you're only down 70% on a battery that's nice performance and reasonable flight times. What motor/esc are you using?

I am running 6s 5000 20c packs in my 70" Slick making 2300 watts. That is 255 watts per pound at 9lbs. I get 7 1/2 minutes only using 80%. Sure it isn't 15+ minutes like gas but not bad. IMO 6s 5000 makes perfect sense in this size.

I'm running 8S in my Slick, and I'll run 8S in the 70" Extra when I get one. The reason I'm running 8S in my Slick isn't for performance though, it's because I already had a bunch of 4S 4000 packs that I use in other planes. It made sense to me economically to go that route and just run them in series. But you're right....it does keep the amp draw down. I'm getting about 2100 watts at around 68amps. Packs stay cool as well as the esc and motor. Not a bad setup IMO.

101 amps fresh of the charge drops to about 2100 watts. I am using Zippy 20-30c 6s 5000 packs the 50 dollar packs They don't get hot at all so I guess they are closer to 30c than 20c

This makes perfect sense If I had a bunch of 4s 4000 packs I would have done the same but since I didn't I went the cheap way which works well.
