Trikopter with folding Mechanic
Inspired by William Thielickes Thread i managed to build my own trikopter by copying his ideas.
This Trikopter worked very well, William did an amazing Job. Thanks again!
In the meantime i also managed to build a Mikrokopter based on the Hardware from HISystems. I designed a simple frame with carbon tubes from kites.
As William finished his new Mini Trikopter, i decided to make also a new one. This time the footprint should be a little smaller than my first one, and a little bigger than the mini. As a gimmick, i wanted to be able to fold two of the arms to make it better transportable.
The new tubes are carbon tail booms from a 450 TRex.
The main frame is copied from Williams design. I added some holes for connecting the folding mechanism and some clips made from 8,5mm POM to keep the two arms in place.
The Motor Platforms
This part holds the third arm in place and prevents the two others from damage by folding to hard (sorry, my english is not that good)
The Mainboard. Its designed by William and i could get two of them.
I will use three EMax motors. As soon as i get it, i will exchange the original windings against 15 turns 0,5mm copper wire.
The servo mechanism
The servo driven back motor is not in the middle so it looks like the motors are not in right angle.
All Parts except the clips are made of industrial made fiberglass (FG) that is originally used to make PCBs. Carbon would be also possible, but i dont like it.
The frame is made of 1mm FG. It is unbelievable how stiff the construction is. This could be achieved by using those black spacers between the yellow frame parts

Thanks! Today i will mill a board where i can place all the stuff upon. I started to convert the 3 BEC i got from HK. To save some weight and space it might be possible to stack them and place them in front of the rear arm between the two main frame plates.

I had to modify some of the parameters, but in the End it flew pretty good.
Lift off weight is 614g. Fat bastard...
Some Details can and will be optimized.
Wireless communication between Laptop and Tri is done by a selfmade Bluetooth dongle, based on a BTM-222 chip

Here are some pics in flight:
I modified the original drawings of William for better mounting of the ESC and changed to Roxxy Motors. Meanwhile i also attached some LED strips.
To switch the Trikopter on i added two microswitches who give contact as soon as the right and left arm is put into flight position. In case of a crash the arms fold back and switch main power of to avoid further damage.
