Here's my first shot at conforming gear doors. The inner door hasn't been trimmed yet.
I was looking for this sorta stuff on the Viperjet Thread. That door sure looks familiar. Could have come off my model. I have decide though to have a change of materials. It needs to be tougher for me because it wont be landing on wheels. No way it would survive the rough treatment of a rough field belly landing. J

i cut the wing open to start on the retract install ..to my suprize the wing skins are a glass foam 1mm glass sandwhich ,thats why they are so light and strong . they used a quality epoxy for bonding the wing skins together and bonding the wood spars and fixed gear mounts in too . mounting the retracts will be easy pics to follow

i had to grind on them a bit so they would fold down all the way . they need a trunion that is offset .hey Gary do the sapac retracts work better with these.i had to put bigger wire in them too as the maps were drilled to 1/8" .

The Sapac retrcats and struts are designed to work together perfectly. No grinding would have been necessary. That is great work Roger. I wish I had that talent. Please make up another kit for me so I can purchase through Gary. J

Sounds good Rodger. Your work and those SAPAC struts really look great.
Like the birdman said, The SAPAC retracts work, and close 100% with the Struts. But I'm sure you got the others to work for ya.
To bad you guys have another engagement during WSEF. It would have been nice to have you and the F-20 sample there . That thing is gonna look hot!

Off topic, but I got the inner and outer custom gear doors for the Viper mains done last night. They just need couple of springs and levers. and they're finished. Just about time for final bettery placement for CG, and she'll be ready to maiden.
Been windy as all H here, probably more so at your place Rodger. We could maiden her after event hours, but working the show may delay that.
We have less than a week to get some calm, dry. sunny weather here.
