I've toyed around with the CG and find that 70mm is right for me. able to fly inverted without any down elevator. harriers and hovers are easier too. I tried the ca trick but my slop still seems to be there. might try again with a fresh tube of ca. I like this plane!

Hey Boxhead,

Thanks a ton for the great review, i'm looking at this plane now, just a few Qs, how slow do you think it can fly, i want something slow so i can fly(hover) it in my small front yard. Or any way to make it fly slower? Changing prop and what else? Anyone done that? Please share your thoughts and probably with some indoor or tight area flying vids will be great.

Thanks a lot for any tip i can get.

Good servo choice. Don't wait for HTX there is no such different in this size of bird. You cαn use hot silicon glue or epoxy. Don't use big amounts of glue you're adding unecessary weight.

Kstmark, thanks for chiming in. Josh, Ks is on the money . I used a bit of hot glue and Foam Safe CA on mine. As Ks said keep the glue to the minimum.

Heliboy, the Hawk is a good plane and will do 3D stuff, but it all depends on your flying skills. Your the only one that can guage if it will fly in the area you have etc with your flying skills. As you can see by my Video's I need a bit of room to move. You might leave my flying for dead and can fly it in a really tight area. As for flying slower that's something you will have to play with. Have a look at the motor spec's. It might shed some light on what you can do with the moter.

agreed Boxhead. I wouldn't be able to hover this in my frontyard but I can imagine an experienced 3D pilot could. You'll need to keep it as light as possible for indoor use

Box and mic,

Thanks a lot for the heads up, i'm not really a good 3d pilot yet, that's why i want it to fly as slow as it can, if i'm going for this plane, maybe i'll try some motor prop combo, or even put a speed break on it.

not sure if a speed break will be effective. Might just end up stalling the plane. what combo were you thinking of using?

perhaps if you kept with the stock motor /esc, but used a smaller batt, like a 400mah? might be an easier way to cut the weight down?

Yes, maybe you're right, just don't know what the flight times will be. Or a smaller pitch prop too?

I find it much more fun to fly an airplane that performs better, if that means a lighter battery and shorter flight times, just buy more batteries. These smaller batteries are generally cheap if you shop around, and if you are flying hard the shorter flight times give you a small rest in between flights which helps with fatigue and helps avoid doing dumb things and destroying your plane. Lighter flies better and slower.
