There are two bands and where they wrap the fuselage they need the dowel hard surface to prevent eating into the foam. You cut a slot in the saddle, insert a dowel so you can hook two #64 rubber bands. To hook to the wings the rubber band hooked to the left side dowel grabs the right side wing hook and vice versa.

The latch method is just some nifty cutting with a sharp hobby knife, medium CA, and kicker. The downside is they are heavier than you would like. If you can find nylon version latches that would be better.

Here's a pic of the amount of headloc I use. It may be a tad much but you can always trim off a peg or 2.

I'm on the hunt for a 'tried and true' best method of attaching the wings too. Might even add some velco as 'jrjr' has posted above.
Let me know what you decide on and I'll do the same!

So far I don't really like any of them other than the magnet idea.
I might use 4 or 6 of the really strong square magnets.

The other problem is trying to source a solid carbon Fibre rod to replace to the hollow stuff that comes with it. I think I'll have to live with the hollow rod for now and just avoid high 'G' loads on the plane.

I'm going to put wheels on it too, tiny 15mm one at the back and a 35mm at the front might even make the front one retractable using a HXT 5g servo and some 3plyboard for it to lock down onto.

I'm yet to start my Bixler build as I've been spending far too much time reading this thread 757 page thread!

I am pretty sure I saw somewhere, maybe on page one mods towards the end, of someone securing a rod inside of a tube inside of the stock spar. Not sure about the diameters. Combined with epoxy or GG, can't imagine you needing something stronger unless you're planning on going plaid! (name that movie!) Good luck!

Edit: Source for larger diam. solid carbon rods here. Never bought from them but was referenced elsewhere on the forums.

That's not velcro.... its called by many names including headloc, dual lock, and others. Here's a link to what I use.

I epoxied 4 2mm CF rods into my CF tube. So far no problems.

i got a bixler, and gotta wait fer better weather here locally to maiden her. mite take till next spring!

of the people that got a bixler arf did yours come in kit form? i mean the fuse wasn't glued together. that's not a arf to me. that's a kit version. the motor was hot glued to one half, and in some wacky angle of thrust. i got it sitting straight out of the motor bay, and square to the motor bay. will see what happens when i maiden her.

had to mod the motor wires to get them into the belly of the beast to get the esc to connect. i'm using my dx7, so i installed a separate bec. remember to remove the red wire from the esc plug. i've lost 3 plains to brown outs using spektrum, but a separate bec solved that problem. took me 3 to figure it out. man getting old is expansive!

i'm going ta do the velcro (HK) across the wings to keep them in. did that on another of my plains, and it works great. hobby king velcro is the best velcro i have used to date.
