Don't know of those, Ozzie, & they likely exist, but as a quick reference Wiki usually does a thorough job of explanation & providing several examples:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaperon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoileron
and here's their 'catch-all':
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_control_surfaces

A thought I've been entertaining for some time is the addition of deployable slats.
Read up a bit on 'em, especially a site of an RC'r who's a dead-on proponent of 'em, & says with slats you can just forget stall speeds. My intention was for increasing glide time. He hauls some pretty serious loads (sky banners, gliders etc) with 'em.

My idea was to make 'em quick, easy & lite using cross sections of CF tubing. Haven't tried it yet but the stuff's supposed to be pretty easy to slit straight lengthwise. Still haven't given up on the idea....but it'll be a project for another set of wings, if I can ever. Anybody ever tried 'em, or flown a plane with 'em?

You did a darn nice job on the additions, Prof. What kind've Tx/Rx do you use to control all that?

Excellent way to put it.

Off-topic.
Setting up an order for a Bixler today.
'Anyone else notice that theyll list the same exact SKU for different prices on the website?
I've seen it a few times, but the Bixler ARF alone is a good example. I've found two at a ~$7 price difference.
Weird, but all part of the chase...

EDIT-Maybe it has to with the warehouse locations (cue the "facepalm" smiley)

Yup... makes price comparison more complicated. You have to run each through the purchase process to the point of payment to see how shipping from the various warehouses compares.

Flew the SkySurfer (Version 2) again after a long hiatus. It's recovered from its vertical introduction to a neighbor's backyard some months ago, but shows some scars. Meaning, it now looks like most other Sky Surfers. And the hatch cover/canopy doesn't fit any more.

But even without the cover, man this thing likes to glide. Came in on long final for a landing, and wound up passing overhead by quite a ways. Throttled up and went around, came in lower. Still passed by overhead. Went around again.

Finally managed to get it down, a long way down field. I wonder if I was hooking a thermal down there where I turned from base to final.

I see flaps in this plane's future.

Spoilers more like. I fly from an old runway and thermals come off it like crazy sometimes. I have to come down over the grass. Spoilers would be great... another project.

Thanks AJ, since I now know you are able to complete transactions, the problem has to be at my end. I wil check my security settings to see if that may be the root cause of my problem. May have to relax them somewhat..

I too find HK to be a great source for parts/supplies. About 90% of my supplies come through HK, very hard to beat their cost on most items. I would rate them as 5 stars if they could do a little better job on keeping their supplies replenished in a more timely manner... Thanks again,
Ron

My External ESC installation

Here's where I installed my ESC. I think I stole the idea off this thread somewhere but I hadn't seen any good pics of it.
I like the fact that there are no daggy wires hanging out in the wind.
Con: I think I have sacrificed some of the strength in the airframe above the wing. To compensate that I've strengthened the area with fibre reinforced tape.

Cheers,
Bruce.

Bruce,

Well done! Great craftsmanship.

The tape reinforces that area just fine.
