I'm glad I fly with a great bunch of guys.

That's hilarious! It looks like you guys had more fun getting it out of the tree than putting it in there. I have and have had friends gotten planes stuck into trees as well and we used balls on ropes and some sort of "big stick" to poke them out. In the end though, you get it out and you sigh a big sigh of relief.

Sorry guys

I don't know why the link doesn't work.
Maybe somebody with more knowledge about it can figure it out.

I noticed that when you watch it on YouTube that it says that the video has not been processed. Maybe there was an issue with the upload.

I looked it up on YouTube and because it is copyrighted it takes longer for them to process it. It will probably work correctly after another day or two.

Light System Possibility

Anyone ever look at putting lights on their Sky Surfer? With the days getting shorter I am looking to extend my flying time since evenings are usually my only times to get out. I am not expecting to fly in pitch darkness but it would nice to have an aid during dusk. Here is a cheap and easy option that I am looking at possibly trying out:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/rclander-l...gsystem-a.html

It looks pretty straight forward to install and operate. I would just plug it into an auxillary channel on my AR6250 receiver that I have in my plane.

Let me know what you think or if you know of any other good options.

At that cost why not? Having dabbled in nightflying I found I needed both marker lights AND lights illuminating the plane. I would buy two sets -- one for marking and one set to aim back at the plane.

The price it right. I say buy 4 sets, do what Prof said with 2 and send one to me and the other to Prof.

Here is my first and only attempt at nightflying. The continuous strips are pretty useless unless very dark.

I also used little self power lights from Walmart.

Here is a marginal video. When dark the plane's orientation could be maintained.

Part #1 flap modification

Although I mainly fly at my RC flying club (Flyingpilgrims.com) I do like flying in the back yard but the problem is the nice large backyard is surrounded by trees and obstacles. So, adding flaps and programming in spoilerons should enable a shorter approach.

I still have to cut in the servos (9 gram HXT 900s) and run the servo leads. Plus the stock aileron servos don't center well so I need to swap them out as well.

Here are some pictures of what I have done so far.

Prof - I love the illustration of your backyard with the plane's approach path, very nice. One question though, how did you decide on a length of 9 inches for the flap?

kman,

It's that old saying, a picture is...

Flap is the same size as the aileron.
