A buddy of mine has one... I don't see where that ACT system does anything. Sounds good on paper though. Plus his has a brushed motor.... it's a dog with no ailerons to boot. Its a good starting point though, much like the SS/Bix needs improvments - this one will as well.

Hi Bill. I the process of reading through the 500++ pages of this forum I have copied (and pasted) all the post that contained info that I figured would be helpful to me now or possibly in the future. I have about 30 pages (MS word) of these notes compiled so far. All parts suggested, mods, etc included. Easy to do a search on these pages to compile the list of motors people have used/recommended so far.... So I am sure this list includes the ones suggested on pg 1, most likely more.

ACT will cause more crashes then it prevents. This is very well documented in the SC thread.
The LP used a esc and rx in one unit. Some like it but it has it's problems also.
The RX is a 27mhz toy radio. (The BNF version is Spektrum 2.4 compatible)

They come with 5 wire servos and only work with its RX/ESC box. (except the BNF)

Uses a 480 brushed motor with a gearbox.

It's a great flying plane. I have 2 modified ones. One uses a E-Flite park 450 on a DX5e and the other a E-Flite Park 480 on 72mhz.

With your experience I would suggest building one from parts. My blog has the directions and part numbers. Only, instead of the brushed set up I would suggest going brushless from the start.

Adding ailerons is a common mod that is simple to do.

That' enough ot on this thread. We can pick up the discussion over at the SC thread they gave you links to.

EDIT: I just saw you were getting it from a friend. Nice. But it will need to be upgrade after you fly it for 10 minutes or so.

Also, as much as I like my SCs, check out the Multiplex Fun Cub also. Comes as a kit with ailerons and flaps. It needs it's upgrades too but another nice kit. Prof and aj have one.

Ahhh, I was trying for the set but the wife would only let me get the plane.
Too bad, I like the way she holds a plane.
Found it on Craigs list, WS = 100", and I got it for a song I might add. If only I could carry a tune......

Wait... if you've got "the wife" and "the plane" then how do you miss how fortunate you are to have "the set" right now?!

Finally... someone with an OT question.

Yes. Apparently the Bix is a version 1. It's what I have.

Thanks erkq.

also, I forgot to ask, can you give me a LINK for a upgraded control hinges/Control horns ie.... Dubro?

I read that the included ones' are not safe at all, prone to future failure.....

p.s.
seems like the inrunner motors (~2000-2200kv) motors are all out of stock???? :-(
