Here is the 2.4 ghz radio I got with my Skysurfer. NO directions on how to bind. Help with instructions would be good.

Did you get a bind jumper with the receiver? If so, I think I can help even though I don't own one. OR, show me a picture of the receiver. Oh, and does it work right now and you just want information for the future?

No, I swapped out the kit radio for a Spektrum. It will have to wait until I finish the "RTF" Skysurfer.

When the motor turns over erratically during the initial test run up you wonder what is wrong. Motor? Wiring? ESC? Radio? I solved the problem by eliminating all of them. Now I simply want to know if the kit radio is junk.

I took my SS up this weekend for my maiden. I made it through my first battery without a crash and 1/2 way through my 2nd.

I snapped my spar but everything else made it. I have another spar ready to go for next weekend and the current spar seems like usable as it just split towards the middle but is still strong up to a point where it bends.

I had a friend take video but the quality is too low to post. I have found a regular place to fly so I'll try and get another video.

This was my first rc flight ever and I felt real fear / excitement grip my chest.

I don't own one but I think by our standards it probably is. I still vote for the lake solution, but that's me.

When the opportunity presents itself, you might try the following:
1. Power everything off.
2. Hook up the bind plug to IDset.
3. Power on the receiver only.
4. Press the bind button on the transmitter.
5. Turn on the transmitter now.
6. Hold the bind button down for 10-15 seconds.
7. Release bind button.
8. Disconnect receiver battery (Ok to leave xmitter on)
9. Remove Bind plug.
10. Hook up receiver battery and everything should be happy.
Good Luck. And remember, this is just an educated guess based on several other radios. I do not own a SkyS radio. Let me know if this procedure works out for you. If it does, I will post it on page #1 of this thread so everyone can benefit. If I missed any steps, please let me know so I can edit the post.

AJ,

That's how I did it but I kept getting the goofy motor response. So, rather than guessing I will wait until I get the directions from BH.

Tonight I will glue the tail and horizontal stab on the SS it will be ready to set control surfaces for the the maiden.

After I get the plane flying I will deal with radio.

BH customer support (Lauren) PM'd me after I elaborated my problems and requested a refund on the BH support forum.

Well I hope that I don't run into the problems that Prof100 had with his new RTF SS as I ordered one and it is scheduled to be delivered Thursday. I have completed reading all the posts in this thread and that is what convinced me to get a Sky Surfer. I will frequent this thread and will have many questions when I get the plane so I hope all will bear with me. I'm not new to RC but I'm new to fixed wing and looking forward to getting my wings. Thanks to AJ for creating this thread.
