AJ and everyone,

Great thread!

You have a wealth of info here, and it's very organized ...Thanks.

I hope you guys find a SkyS supplier who does a good job... and when you do, please let me know ... I may have to buy one.

Thanks!

Kevin

Thanks for the props, kevin. It is really good to see you over here if only for one post. The site is modeled after the fantastic job that you did on the EZ* thread. I am just a plagiarizer. Keep up the swell work you do over there.

BEVRC - SkySurfer V2 Mod con't

Just added 900mhz 500 mw tx, antenna etc.

While the "grey umbrella" is up here in Eugene, I have plenty of building & modification time.

If I need to order another SkySurfer I will make sure it's a V2. I really like the compartment area. Ez to place electronics and wiring. I have more cable than necessary for my gopro video out, but I may need that longer cable later if I transfer to a larger plane. Close up pic

First, the bad news. BEVRC is (was) the only source for a SkyS V2. BH only has V1 AFAIK. Let me know if that has changed. I know what your mean about demanding a V2. I don't have one. But, the differences are all very nice and the plastic canopy is the cherry on top.
Second, is it necessary to have that large (to me) coil of wire in the plane at all? It sure looks heavy to me. What is it?

That's a special order GoPro video out cable. With the software upgrade for the HD GoPro, the little camera has "Live Video" out. I just plug that cable into tx and I can now record the flight in HD captured in the camera and fly with (FPV). This eliminates a second camera feed. I admit that it is very long, but I will see if I can get the C.G. correct and if I can not need to cut. Like I mentioned it may be transferred some day to another plane and I might need the extra lenght. Lennie

Eagle-Eye: how are you going to attach the fuse halves together? Just wondering because if you use glue you may have a heck of a time getting the FPV equipment out.

One reason I take pictures of the interior is to know where to cut a side access hatch. I did that on my SkySurfer 1 and it seems to let me get to what I need. I use Gorilla white glue at space points along the fuse body and then cover seem along weak points like motor mounts and bottom. Seems to work real well for me so far.

Bet it flys better with a motor and esc.

Looks great.
Here's something you may be interested in for rx and tx antennas.
Home made or build to order. IBCrazy is a master of antennas.
