Had my 'dream plane' bought, 60 days later, a 40" Beachcraft Staggerwing, and fell in love with the concept 'Scale Flying'.

After my training with the Sky Sufer I realized that all that I read said 'Don't go from your SS to a biplane' was correct, I finally did get it. I bought a 63" Cessna 182.

This will be my second level trainer. Then I will Fly the Beechcrart Model 17.

Which sim software did you buy for your Skysurfer. The package I got from Bananahobby did not have the SS in it. Now I can't seem to run the BlitZRc software at all because something is messed up with the graphics and I get only partial pictures. It's like the software doesn't work with my video card anymore.

Clearview has the SS. Its cheap enough, and really not bad for a cheap sim. I used for a couple years till I got Phoenix. Still go in occasionally since Phoenix doesn't have the stryker in it.

Sounds like a great plan, DJ. I am just about where you are now... although I have never used a sim (but I do have the sim cable on order to try it with my DX7). I have crashed the SkyS many times and it's still flying great with lots of epoxy and tape on it now.

I too am thinking of the 'next step up' for me... and my plan was actually to try a helicopter next. Maybe a fixed-pitch one to start with. The coaxial ones are too easy.

helicopters are a lot of fun! The sim is a great Idea. Might I suggest; Fly the plane in the sim as if crashing it would cause you to wait a month for parts from China. Do everything you can to keep the plane from going down. Don't fly it like you stold it. Fly like it's the only plan you will ever have.

Helis are harder to fly than planes, 4 Chanel that is. I fly the Double Horse 9116 two of them

new here, been lurking for a while. Just wanted to give a quick post about my first experience buying my sky surfer from Banahobby. Service was very quick, everything delivered within 4 days of order....NICE. The "RTF" I got seems to be V4, screws for the wings but I don't know how on earth the plane would be ready in an hour, I'd say it was more of a ARF. The control horns alone took over an hour to screw into place plus the little clamps to connect the horns to the rod were about to drive me insane, but its all done, waiting for my next day off for first flight.

Thanks. I guess I can download the trial and see if it works with my 6 channel controller that came from BlitzRC

The trial software works just fine with my existing sim controller. Cool. Thanks guys.

This is the one I use with Clearview with Win 7. Works good.

I do have adapter cables to use a regular transmitter too but I like this better. No batteries required in the controller with this.
Phoenix comes with a proprietary cable for use with only Phoenix. It's how they control piracy.

Just built my first kit plane which turned out to be a Bixler!

Added the following

6x3mm Carbon Spar for wings
30amp HK Deluxe Esc
Removed nose weights to allow the use of 2200 LiPo's
Hinges to all surfaces apart from rudder
Flaps (programmed 3 stage)
AXN Replacement 2200kv Motor
Small Parts RC Aluminium Motor Mount
3mm carbon rod to underside of fuselage
HobbyKing 10gr & Hextronix HXT900 servos
6x4 APC prop

If I'd do anything different it would be to not add flaps after I had built the plane - should have installed them on during the original build!

After my not so great flights on Saturday I decided to make some changes to my SS.

I had been using the manual's recommendation for the CG to be at 60mm. After I had made modifications to use an APC 6x4E prop and 2200mah battery. It kept nose diving no matter what I did to it.

With the help of another RC flyer we rearranged components and added some weight in the tail to balance it at a CG of 70mm. I wasn't sure what I would get but was pleasantly surprised with results.

Here is the test flight at 70mm.

Never mind all of that, i am shure the first assemble for most took longer than it should have, just follow flight tips from this big giant thread{welcome to the thread by the way}, now go out and fly and have fun.

I found the Clear View software and down loaded the trial. It works just fine with my existing 6 channel simulator radio.

Sometimes I don't really need to have a link. I can usually find it with just a little data using the web. It is easier than most people think.

Thanks for the information.

Clearview as a link is about 4 post up JrJr posted it. if you fail to find it type "Clearview" into Google, it's in the first three.

If you want to use the people on this board as advisor's and fellow fliers you must not be presumptuous.

You need to change your tone if you expect much help here.
