Low Pass Antenna Filter for 1.2GHz - 1.3GHz. Why this little thing is so expensive ?

"This Low Pass Filter is designed to attenuate the radiated second and third order harmonics on 1.2GHz - 1.3GHz wireless video transmitters. Ideal for reducing video transmitter interference to nearby 2.4GHz receivers"

I really like this tiny device, since I use Futaba Fasst 2.4G radio this filter really does the job! But the price is almost as the price of my VTx itself ..and there is no an alternative offer, only this:

Any idea? If someone can make this or the 900mHz version chipper will be awesome
Cheers,
Georgi

On no.. $37.. it's the end of the world!

The difference is the video Tx is manufactured in high volumes and sold
to a much larger market than just FPV. The filter is built in limited volume to a small
percentage of a generally tiny market. The fact that there are as many FPV products
as there are, to support less than 500 active FPV pilots worldwide, is really pretty amazing.

i tried one of those and they suck because of the crash resistance
and poor performance

really get a uhf system from thomas and you will have no problem with 1.2/1.3

no need at all for that

very weak link, not good for rc at all

Ian, I may sound pathetic but I have 3 airplanes for FPV + two upcoming projects that is $ 37 times 5
I love the product they made and I am appreciated, just throwing some idea on the competition

David, I am thinking of that. Thomas or Dragonlink is my next buy,..after I sale some painting and finish with my taxes
For now 6EX is what I have.
By the way if you notice they improved the design so is more crash resistant, but I use home made antenna from cox cable tuned for 1280mHz- super light.

There is no competition for a specialty item like this.

Besides, why do you need 5 of them? Just swap it to the plane you're flying.

You currently have 3 FPV planes, plus 2 more in the near future for a total of 5, and you're upset about a $37 RF filter??? Am I missing something here? There are lots of guys on here (this includes me) that have a wife and children, and are fortunate and lucky enough to be able to afford the luxury of having one FPV plane. I'd say you're pretty fortunate to be able to build 5 separate units. Maybe this will help you feel better about the filter.

just like a motor or any component itis nice to have a rtf plane or whatever\\ swapping componentes just is more complicated and not worth it in the long run

keep the cell phones away at all times

good reason to tell others to get lost

I need some schooling here,
I thought the Thomas UHF was for radio Tx/Rx only and not video(VTx). Is this correct?

David's point is that 1.3G video will not have negative effect on the range of Thomas radio system, so this filter is for 2.4Ghz Fasst and Sektrum users only. Must be installed between your 1.2-1.3G VTx and the antenna.

The purpose of a filter is to remove harmonics. Harmonics on a 1.2GHz system are dangerously clos to a 2.4GHz radio signal and thus have the potential to severly reduce your control range.

Actually I think the weight is more of a cost. Freek'n thing is heavy. It all starts to add up, my lawmate 1.2 antenna weighs more then my plane.

Just purchased this. I lost radio link yesterday at only 800 feet away. I have a Flysky TH9x 2.4 and and a 1.3 transmitter. I shouldn't have that stupid issue right?
