[EFLT] "Old" Q-TEE AIRTRONICS 1/2a RC TRAINER

This message from "Jerry Harrison" <jerryh@pbureau.com> brought to you by EFLIGHT!

SRBatteries has their version of the subject model they call the
"CUTIE". It has a wing span of 46" and area of 360 Sq. In.

I have the old model of Q-TEE built and flew as a 1/2 A. It has a wing
span of 36" with a cord of 7 in. Wing area is 250 Sq In. Has anyone
converted this model to an electric and if so what motor, prop and
battery setup did you use. If not any power suggestions.

I have to owners manual that is dated 1981.

There is one built from the Airtronics kit flying locally that has had several power systems in it. Currently it has an Astro Flight 020 geared brushless - I don't know what Randyl's using for a battery.

Dream Catcher Hobbies has bought the rights to the Airtronics line and has re-issued the Q-Tee as a laser cut kit. I had one for a time and it would, I think, build up much lighter than the original, opening it up to all sorts of power systems.

Dream Catcher also make a lightened version for geared 280 called Q-Tee'e. www.dchobby.com.

For the most fun, I'd use a Multiplex Turbo 450
and 7 CP-1300 cells, 7x4 APC prop. You could use a
geared Speed 400 and 7 KAN 950 cells to have more of a
"floater".

The link below goes to a page documenting Rod Wooley's (Ottawa, Canada)
experience in electrifying the Q-Tee. Good luck!

Thanks Gordon for the interesting information. I found the web site to
contain some good information. If you or anyone else knows were I can
obtain a print of the original plans for the Q-TEE let me know off line
at jerryh@pbureau.com. I have the original construction book for the
model. Will also ask Rod Wooley for same.
