One theory is that with the extra drag being created means the gyro is compensating and slowing the other set of blades to stop it spinning. Without the gyro your s107 would spinning like mad due to the extra resistance on one axis.
The slower the blades on one axis means the others are slowed up also, overall effect is less and less lift.
I completely agree with that !
You must have the same torque on the both axis
if not the gyro lower speed of the most torque axis

with 8 blades the 2 motors are probably at their maximum torque and so you have a reducted speed of the 2 set of blades
So what is the best:
8 blades lower speed or 4 blades higher speed ?
(that is the question ...)

Very nice mod!

Ok, so I purchased the V-max tail motor and prop that everyone seems to recommend

http://www.rc-fever.com/copter-vmaxm...or-p-7481.html

and the only thing I noticed is that it pitches forward faster but doesn't increase the forward speed. Yes this motor does have a little more power but it just didn't seem to increase the forward speed.

If you want one of these types of helis with more forward speed go get the S110, it will leave the S107 in the dust right off the shelf.

You have just wasted your mony. The motor that you orderd is only 17.000 RPM. I will have the 36.000 RPM motor and a carbon fiber tail boom avalable on my web sit soon. I have three in stock now. This motor will move your heli to the extreem edge of flight for the S107.

What benefits does putting a bigger tail motor give on the S107 does the stock motor not turn the tail rotor fast enough...it seems to work very well with my PicooZ rotors.

Just asking...

Well according to several previous posts it was suppose to increase the forward pitch increasing the forward speed but I didn't notice a change. Don't waste your time or money, just remove the horizontal stab and tail supports.

the thing is the 6020 6mm tail motor has a RPM of 17.000 to 24.000. The motors that I use on the ZR-1GT is the 36.000 to 40.000 high RPM motors. This will make a hugh diference in the speed that the s107 has. But the faster you go the more prop sticks you will have. The ZR-1GT fixes all that. This is the quickest s107 and has the highest speed of all my s107.

much debate and worry has lead me to this chopped piece. removed most of it all without much compromise. quite honestly, i don't think there is much more I can get rid of without destroying it or making it totally ugly. reversing the polarity on the board for the picooz rotor was the hardest thing to do. After it was all said and done it finally weighs 34grams. Honestly I though it would be a LOT less than that after all the gutting. Don't know what to do to lose more weight.

SAF_Dogface:

the carbonfibres107 site still says "closed for moving", are you open for taking orders, cause I'd love one of them kits w/ the tail motor (even though I'm not sure I have the technical ability to solder something that tiny and flush)!

Yeah SAF, how quickly will you have your site up? I loved that pic of your S107, I'm very interested in the parts you've mentioned.
