Thanks Manfred , right now , work has me tied down for a few weeks... planes, and some fpv stuff is next, but I do enjoy these tri-copters. I have built a few, and love the y-6's... Here is my latest, but do to a rec. failer , it met a fatal demise....

For AP, which one is most stable: a quad or a tricopter?
If not AP, why is a tri better than a quad?

Hi,
A well set-up tri is stable for AP. A well set-up quad is stable for AP. A well set-up octo is stable for AP. A well set-up twelve-O is stable for a AP. The reverse it true as well... Because of the increased weight with the higher motor versions, they tend to be more stable in windy conditions and can carry the heavier professional cameras easier. Most quads have accelerometers which aid in self-leveling. For AP self-leveling is very important for serious photographers. The UAVP and UAVX can be set up as tricopters and have self-leveling and the UAVX also has GPS. The Shrediquette tricopter has an acceleromter for self-leveling as well. Reverend Richie was able to add the Flymentor system to his tricopter recently which adds self-leveling capability. Even with the self-leveling feature a gimbled camera mount that has gyro stabilized pitch and roll will give even better results without having to use anti-shake software when rendering videos.
For fun flying, as with most models, it comes down to personal choice and desire. I've seen tricopter gents get into quads. I'm a long time quad guy who will eventually build a tri...just because I can They are all fun to fly and easy and cheaper to maintain and to fly than traditional helicopter models.

Cheers,
Jim
