The spark is actually pretty normal on high volt systems and you can create or buy an anti spark jumper but on this plane I wouldn't bother. Just to check you are using 2 3s packs right?

Ok,

I need help with wiring up the the thrust vectoring. I have a Spektrum DX8 and a 8 channel reciver. I have set up delta wing and have the elevators and ailerons doing the same thing same direction. As far as setting up the thrust vectoring. I guess I use Aux2 and Aux3 as Aux1 is flaps. Anybody have experience setting this plane up on DX8?

Help appreciated.

Brad

i have done some searching in this big thread.

Right now the kit and the arf are only $90 difference.

So whats the advice kit or arf?

Not looking for a hotrod, stock perf would prob be OK.

I can do the minor mods i see listed & seems LG are no good?

So stock everything else is OK ? In that case get the arf?

That is not much and therefore makes it very tempting to go the ARF route.

It depends. I lost a stock ESC already on the work bench, before it flew once. Also, the stock motor/fan combination is a bit lame, or at least was so before Lanxiang switched to a new version with metal fans (I don't know how good they are, but as far as I can tell hardly any supplier should have that new version yet).

The landing gears are probably going to fail you soon, especially if you don't have a good runway. In that case you are looking at less than 10 flights before the first gear failure, IMHO.

Nonetheless the ARF is tempting. I bought one and ended up - after some time - replacing ESCs, motors and gears. I kept the original servos so far. So I would probably buy the ARF today and try it out. Just be prepared to rework it once parts fail, and if the fail, go upmarket. Don't bother with the original spare parts.

Just my 0.02 cents, ofc.

Cheers,
Henrik

Haven't read through the entire thread yet but have been eye-balling this jet for a long time. I really love the look if this jet.
Couple of questions if anyone doesn't mind answering:

1. has anyone dealt with/purchased from these folks???
http://www.rcwarbirds.co.uk/edf-jets...ufacturer_id=2

2. Airframe only or ARF??? I'm thinking airframe only...

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I bought one MiG29 there. The service was good, no complaints. Also, they were one of the very first in Europe to have the MiG in stock. They seemed a bit pricey, though.

If you are looking for a European source, you can also try trade4me.de, which have both the grey and the red (!) MiG in stock as airframe-only versions for 179 and 159 Euros, respectively.

It really is a matter of taste and inclination. If you go the airframe-only route, you will end up with a pretty damn good airplane if you do the right mods and add the right parts. It will cost you an arm and a leg and a lot of time. If you buy the ARF, you will get an airplane that looks good, but has some lame components, but which will be in the air in no time :-).

One thing to consider is that the ARF-Lanxiang-MiGs currently for sale are probably the older versions without the new fans and motors. So they had better be cheap.

Cheers,
Henrik

Not too familiar with the stock setup. Is there a bind button on rx or does it have a bind plug? When you attempt to bind is throttle at lowest setting?

What brand tx/rx is it? I know you said stock but there are a few stock...i.e. blitz rc or LX. The process is different for each.
