Which 2S ESC would you choose ..need some feed back ??

Hi

I have the following ESC candidates for powering a hobby grade Ornithopter, running on 2S, and won't pull more than 20A , and I really need the following programming features (brake, startup speed, signal loss protection)

I really appreciate some feed back on the following ESCs

The cheaper the better, but flawless performance is what I really need

1-TURNIGY Plush 30amp Speed Controller (16 USD) + prog card (7 USD)

2-Hobby Wing Pentium 30A (19 USD)+ prog card (7 USD)

3-Turnigy Super Brain 20A Brushless ESC (30 USD)+ prog card (7 USD)

4- Waypoint 25 A (38 USD) + programming card (10 USD)

5-Hyperion ATLAS Series Brushless 25A (50 USD)
Including programming IR TX/RX

Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide some feedback

Since you're asking specifically about an orni application I sent you a PM rather than posting here.

I like the Mystery blue or ZTW (one in the same)

Excerpt from vendor:

Quote:
Features of the ZTW Line of Esc's:

Support High RPM motors, are fully programmable, incorporate power arming protection: (prevents the motor from accidentally running when switched ON), Lost Throttle signal protection: The ESC will automatically reduces output power to the motor when it detects a lost of throttle signal for 1 second. A subsequent loss of throttle signal beyond 3 seconds will cause the ESC automatically to cut power to the motor, Automatic safety thermal over-load protection: (Automatically reduce output power to half when the temperature reaches 110℃, restore output power when the temperature is below 110℃.), Acceleration: Provides quick acceleration start ups with a linear throttle response, Governor Mode: Helicopter application with latest software design, especially for all types of brushless motor.

Program Functions: (programed with ZTW Program Card), Brake: on/off (Factory default setting: off)

Battery type: LiPo /NiMh/NiCad (Factory default setting: 3Li-Poly)

Low voltage cutoff: (Factory default setting: Reduce power) Reduce power: Reduce motor speed to half throttle, Cut off: Stop motor immediately. Ignore: Motor won’t stop until battery totally gone, Not suggested for lipos)

Soft start (Acceleration): Factory default setting: Soft start: Enable

Timing: (Factory default setting: Automatic) Automatic: (7-30 degree) ~~ Soft: (7 -22 degree) ~~ Hard: ( 22-30 degree)

Frequency : 8KHz/ 16 KHz, Factory default setting: 8KHz
Hobbycity has them for $11, Dealextreme has tehm for $14.44 w/ free shipping.

I have several of these ESCs in diferent sizes and highly recommend them.

The transmitter does not matter, as long as the receiver sends out the standard servo signals. The 20 Amp version will run on 2-3 cells for Lipo. You can program it using the transmitter throttle stick or you can purchase a programming card. I do not have a programming card but have seen them for sale. milehighrc.com sold them.

I am using the 12amp version with a 2 cell Lipo and it is working very well. The 20 amp version has the same linear BEC so you want to be carful not to run to many servos (should be good for 3 mini servos).
