My initial layout
Here is what I think my layout of components will be like on my Skywalker. I am still waiting for my Turnigy Motor (drawn onto the image), and my CoPilot II (also drawn in). The camera is a $49 480Line Ebay Sony camera (Also drawn in).
Here's the components: 1. 10Hz Flytron GPS Rx 2. FMA Co Pilot II 3. 40A Turnigy Plush ESC 4. Turnigy Motor 5. Dragon OSD+ 6. Power Sensor (Forgot to show, to the right of the power sensor is a DPCAV power filter. 13 shows the power pluf that will power the video harness) 7. 2 x 3S 3000mah packs (for now) 8. GWS 360 degree Pan Servo 9. $49 Sony Camera 10. 900Mhz 500mW AV Tx 11. Barometric Sensor/Temperature sensor 12. Thomas LRS LR Rx 13. Power plug for Video harness (Video harness still being built) 14. Cables to rudder and elevator My ideas around this layout are: GPS very far from noisey 900Mhz video Tx. Radio Rx pretty far from all noisey items. Power Sensor and Power filter (maybe both dirty?) moved forward to help CoG. Video Harness will be pretty short and contained to forward section, except for the 4 wires that go to the OSD. Radio Rx is mounted on a removable panel. When it opens, the radio Rx will come out on the panel. I should then also have easy access to the OSD board. Antenna on Rx is a whip. That may be upgraded to a heavier antenna. Missing from this diagram is the LRS antennas. One might be mounted on top, with a stick being dug into the fat bit of foam holding the motor on. The stick will be pretty high. It will be vertical for long range flight. The other antenna (For altitude above me) would be stuck to the side of the fusalage, from the nose, running done to the start of that CF rod. You experts, can you maybe see any issues I may have or have any better ideas? Here's a wee video of access options.
Also, CF rods and wings... I have 2 of these 400mm rods... Would it be of any use in adding these? Or must I get 750mm? |

Hi,
Ok I have made progress, all control surfaces are done, fuselage is glued (with dummy cables in some places for the future) and I am now struggling on my motor mount and the wing mouting I am toying with an idea and wanted to test it here. - cutting the carbon rods for the wings in two - glue each of the half rods in the wings at their place the the over on - use two plain smaller rods of 1meter (or less) each that I would slide inside the glued rods. This would allow me to keep the wings separated and not loose any stiffness. What do you think? I still need to find something to lock the two wings together, maybe some FG tapes first @rcmonster99: the kettle technique for my compressed foam was not that successful so I stopped before the foam get cooked

I flew this model this week but for me is a no go...
main reason is too fast, too much weight on nose to get it balanced, tail is very shaky. I needed 2x 3s 2200 lipo + a gopro on nose to have it balanced. way too much, we should be able to balance it with a single 3s 2200. there is enough room in the middel fuselage to add all the equip. On a future newer version I would like to see a longer nose for easier cg balance with less weight use, a stronger tail , a thicker canopy, precutted flaps with servo holes ready, longer cf tubes inside the wing and absolutely better shipping box and packaging, looks like almost all of us received it damaged somewhere... it's a nice plane but still some upgrades to do imho. Maybe I will try twin engine on wings instead, more efficiency, less noise, less vibrations and no torque with counterprops.. |

Same as this one, zaguruinzasky?
Looks like it cruises around 50km/h. Match yours? |

well I think I'm gonna take the plunge and get one of these from FPV flying.com Picking up the FY 20 as well.
Gonna get the DL and ET OSD PRO. That should make for a nice setup. EDIT: Actually I will not be ordering from fpvflying.com. $100 for shipping is ridiculous, especially since they are charging $40 for the plane and an additional $40 for the FY 20. |

well I didn't measured but it's fast, I cannot use it for work because of fast landing speed too.. I will just use it for fun and keep flying the Solution when I need heavy lifters btw I love that cockpit in the video..! |
