How are you guys fixing things like your OSD, or your radio Rx into the plane? Velcro? Hot glue?
Next time you place an order with HobbyKing, get this stuff.

Yeah, got loads of that stuff.
Is that the way to go for keeping tuff inside the plane? Easy enough!

As for software updates, I am building a plug hole on the side of the aircraft, so that I can just - plug in.

Ok.. hinging all complete... Now, I want to seal my servos into place. My choices at the moment for servos are:

HS-65s on Ailerons, Y-Cable so that my OSD can control them if need be, as well as my stabilisation system (FMA CoPilot).

HTX900 for rudder. I know this isn't the top of the range servo, but the rudder will probably be the least used control surface, and if the servo did die... I don't think is will spell the end for my plane.

HS-81 for elevator. This is a bit heavy, and it doesn't fir tight (It will sit out a bit, as it's too deep for the tail) but I have 2 spare, along with a few unused spare HTX900s and 2 HS-55s. I looked at the HS-55, and thought they might look a bit fragile. If I have stabisation working, I think the elevator will be pretty busy, along with the ailerons. So, my thinking is that the servo will be working quite hard, and maybe an HTX900 or HS55 wouldn't be the best choice. Is this valid?

Guys what is the maximum weight that this plane can lift?
I am thinking of installing a 20Ah pack on it (about 1.5 kgm)
It looks like it could become the perfect uav platform.

Elevator is pretty important.... IMHO....

I know you don't want to... but I would get another HS-65mg for the elevator....

I don't think the HS-55 or the HXT900 will be enough for elevator....
might be strong enough torque wise, but kinda fragile...

The HS-81 is ok, but as you pointed out, it's a bit too big for the tail pocket.

Do what will make you happy in the long run.... so that later you don't regret....

Maidened today!

Got mine maidened today. Here are some specs.

Weight 1.9kg
6 minute flight used 1000 mah. (with a good amount of throttle used)
3s 5700mah total (will soon have one 3s 5000mah that I will use)
Max speed = approx 57mph
Max amps = 30
Max watts = 360

The maiden was with no video transmitting. The 2nd flight was with the video transmitting and recording but not flying FPV. I accidentally turned off the osd while flying so I wasn't able to see all the data during playback of the video, but I did get the data recorded in the Eagle Tree Logger. I could tell however that I had way too much vibration in the video. I am going to balance the prop and mount the pan servo in MoonGel and try it again. If that is successful, I will FPV with it.

I also tested the aileron gyro and AP2000i and they worked fine. One thing I did notice however was that it need considerable up elevator and aileron correction when turning with the rudder. Otherwise it will lose a good bit of altitude. I may try setting up a mix for this but it will be a little lighter and move the cg back a bit with the new battery. Here is a video showing the launch, top speed flyby and mid speed flyby slowing at the end and the landing.

I was a bit worried about going with the lighter motor, but it turns out to be perfect!

These numbers look great, techspy!

Was this with the motor described in post #709?
I am asking because you said the motor is 230W at WOT.

Great video. I will be on a similar AUW. Hope it can glide slower too without stalling.

I ended up going with this motor.

http://www.toddsmodels.com/SUPG8050_...p/supg8050.htm

Lighter and stronger than the one I was originally going to use. Cheap too!

I didn't get too much slow gliding in. I will give it a try when FPV'ing so I can have a higher altitude to test in. It did slow down pretty good at landing so I think it will slow down pretty good.

Nice, techspy.
Seems to fly a lot faster than I expected! Much faster than an Eay Star, eh?

You were pulling up nicely... and the wings remained intact! Did you add extra CF or any other support to the wings?
