How about this:

1) Buy the plane, motor, ESC, servos and battery. Then go fly it.
2) Add a VTx and camera. Then go fly it.
3) Add an OSD. Then go fly it.
4) Add autopilot, stabilization and various must-have doo-dads late this summer.

It'll still take months to accumulate the gear, but it'll make a whole lot more sense once it's finally all in the air.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go run a marathon. Training? Bah! How hard can it be?

FWIW, I've never run a marathon. But I do have a closet full of really expensive running shoes that don't fit.

I've never ever run a marathon either, but i do have a closet full of expensive golfclubs that's been changed over the years. If i could sell them i could have bought a hole lot of Skywalkers for shure. But as with your shoes theire fitted to me and thats why i can't sell them.

Bevrc.com website unreachable today!?

Hi. Have anyone else problems reaching the bevrc.com webpages today? I've tried for hours with no luck. I even tried to lookup www.bevrc.com and no hits at all from anywhere. It seems like they dissapeared from some DNS servers close to Norway today.

The nameserver where the system is hosted had problems yesterday, then it was solved, but then the website crashed again due to a database problems today. They are slowly fixing the problems because they are in holiday (today it's the last day) i guess, but bevrc is still "alive" since they just shipped my skywalker in the middle of those breakouts.

I am almost done building my Skywalker.

The AUW seems to be a little under 2.1 kg (5000 mah 4s battery + 1500 mah video battery).

Is that OK weight, or is it to heavy?

It's ok, and you won't be the first... but the question is: what did u put into it to get that weight? Since the lipos alone doesn't justify that AUW.. do you have a big camera? Reinforced stuff?

I've choosen this parts based on what i've read here and advice from friends flying this FPV plane today. Since i can't buy it all together i have to buy over a few months. I have a quadcopter today which is going to fly as a FPV quad when the parts needed for it arrives. This month i plan to buy the following:

April:
BEV-KX181H-PAL Camera 82
BEV 1.3G 800mW 74,99
BEV-2.8mm board lens 9,99
CE OSD V1.3(Newest) 92,99
BEV-GF protect kit 21,99
Total $281,96

May:
Fatshark RCV922 BASE Edition $275

June:
BEV-FY-20A II Flight Stabilization System
Skywalker 168cm EPO airplane Version II
80A brushless ESC Turnigy Plush(I have this already)
HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo
TR 35-36A 1450kv Brushless Outrunner (Eq:2814)
Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 4S 25~50C Lipo Pack x2
Turnigy nano-tech 1600mah 2S 25~50C Lipo Pack x1
Chainlink (433MHz for video)
Total $541,77

Total $1348,73 with the Ardupilot Mega($250)

Im not shure what kind of controller i want for this project, but i need advice on IkarusOSD($130) vs Ardupilot Mega($250) and maybe others.

My Tx is a DX7. I'm planning on buying a Turnigy 9x.

If you don't mind me jumping in. I would recommend a Dragon OSD system with current sensor and GPS. This system provides you the normal OSD info, (volts x2, amps, mAh used, distance, speed, altitude, etc), but also provide a Return To Home failsafe, flying waypoints, etc. The GPS stabilization mode flies straighter than I do. You can still add an FY-20 to the system, but it really isn't necessary. For a little over $200 you can have everything in one unit that you're thinking of in several individual units. Just a thought...

Idea for seperable wings

Has anybody tried cutting the CF tubes for the wings in half, glueing them in, and using snug fitting CF dowels (approx. half the length of the tubes) as seperable wing joiners?
I don't like the idea of loosely fitting CF tubes in foam because that will create stress pressure peaks (especially at the extremities of the CF tubes) instead of spreading the stress out along the whole tube.

A 4 nylon screw wing mount system will be nice too instead of rubber bands.
