Just measured the props and spinner... about 9 1/2 inches.

oh that's gonna be cutting it close, you might need to cut the boom a little to allow the prop to clear

Do you think the folder stuff will work with the motor mount? What do you think the climb out will be like?

donno if it will work with the mount.. I think it should.

And climb should be very strong. Not vertical, but it will get you to where you need to go.

Hi guys
Well the wings are done it's just the fuse one thing I noticed was when I put the wings on the fuse and stabilizer on and just put the fuse together the fin is not level with the wings ? I know it is not a glued fuse yet but I had to twist the boom to get it level
Just as a matter of interest has anybody just ca'ed the fuse ( no twisting ) and found that their wings are not level? Or has it come out ok.

Might tape the fuse and see it that changes the out come.

Cheers

Another Skywalker made it to it's new home intact!
As you can see the box is in perfect crease free condition.

A nice surprise inside - no more broken EPS pieces rather abundant use of these air filled bags.

The carbon spars are nicely taped in the box - NO more dinged wings!

All in all it took 5 - yes FIVE days - from Hong Kong to Chicago. Not bad for an item shipped with the cheap option, instead of EMS!

Let the building commence!

Mine definitely is not level, but it flies fine.

Is this the suggested strapping tape?

Can I use this "Tough series" 3M transparent duct tape instead?

Before the first one gets answered I am asking another question...

What's the story with the short Carbon fiber tubes in the accessory bag? And did you guys get only two sets of control horns and piano wires too?

The carbon tubes are for the rubber bands that hold the wing on.
There should be 4 piano wire rods and 4 control horns.

ok I moved the vtx to the tail using a home made twisted wire with a toroid in it. Ground test is definitely improved, not perfect, but better. Only a flight test will tell if its cured of static.

Hi Dimitris76,
Had the same problem the hardware bag it's like a lucky dip, you can't be sure what you will get..

Hi Ash,
Good move putting the vtx back.. it will help but in close the vrx can get front end overload.. and there is still a lot of RF around.. Ferrite cores are your friend, but these must be wrapped well over X5 times better yet X10 and twisting wire DC lines, the Speedie is the biggest for RF.. and the cam itself.

Hope you did another range check after the vtx move could now be close to your planes rx ...

Well 3/4 finished the SW wing . I went a little further with the CF ribbon.
X2 reasons.

1) I had it in stock and the off cuts were the right size for another job.

2) wanted to run the support closer to the end of the aileron to give it less travel distortion under extreme condition.

May well replace ailerons with balsa later not sure yet will get it up and running and see if it would be worth doing

some photos.. I know we have seen them before but there is some info added that may help others..as this thread is really getting big

This mod has really made the wing VERY strong .. so remember there is a trade off here.... It will also be safer to reo' the CF rods and surrounding area that holds the wings to the fuse, as the energy that would have been taken up by the flexing outer wing section will now be transferred in towards the center to the wing joiners

BTW the servos are HS65 MG and will be all around.

Cheers

Richard, I used ALOT of the crossweave tape as you put it on the underside of the wing, use as much as you feel comfortable with.. Ive pulled wing-stressing dives in FPV to line up for landing, it definitely does the job, no wing snapping!! Full-length of the wing tip to tip!!

Guys once again,

if I use CF strips can I get away with transparent duct tape instead of that Extreme strapping tape?

Thanks,
Dimitris
